Our next poet, Niko, shares his poem about growing up and living in Compton and the life lessons he has learned. His poem is titled, “Compton was a Home.”

After fleeing domestic violence and navigating different placements along her journey to safety, one of our House of Do Good residents was ready for her next chapter. Since arriving in a new community, she has been incredibly proactive about rebuilding her life. She found a local church and began building connections, explored resources in her new community, and has been actively pursuing employment by walking into local businesses, introducing herself, asking about opportunities, and following up.

We are so proud of the progress she continues to make and the determination she shows in creating the life she wants for herself. At House of Do Good, we are grateful to be able to support her, encourage her, and walk alongside her during this part of her journey.

Survivors deserve more than safety. They deserve the time, support, and opportunity to rebuild and thrive.

Be Good. Do Good. Spread Good.

We are excited to share the video of our Rewrite Your Story program. These incredible youth authors turned their experiences into published works, choosing hope, resilience, and purpose.

After dedicating 8 weeks to the writing process they shared their books and experience with their families, friends, and the community.

We are so proud to celebrate their courage and this incredible milestone. Thank you to our families, community partners, Los Angeles County Department of Youth Development, City of Long Beach , David Penny for your continued support, and everyone who helped make this celebration possible.

In addition, each author received $2,500 in educational scholarships so they can continue on their path in education and entrepreneurial opportunities.

Congratulations to our authors, we can’t wait to see what you write next!
