Live at the Shell Live at The Shell is dedicated to the reactivation and revitalization of The Shell at Recreation Park, a Long Beach landmark since 1929.

In coordination with and support from Partners of Parks, Friends of Recreation Park Bandshell (FORPBS) is a non-profit foundation dedicated to bringing back consistent use of the Recreation Park Bandshell as a venue for performance arts including live music and theater. Our goal is to revitalize this under-used, historic landmark and bring back regularly schedule events, focused on local talent and the involvement of our community’s youth. With support from local business and private donations, we also intend to renovate and maintain the Bandshell so that it can serve as a cultural gathering place for years to come.

🚨 We officially crossed our historic finish line for Long Beach Gives, hitting our absolute dream goal of 97 individual supporters to honor the Recreation Park Bandshell turning 97 years old this season! 🏛️🏁🥂

We are stepping into the new week with hearts that are immensely grateful for our community. Reaching this exact headcount milestone gives our all-volunteer team a powerful public megaphone to prove our grassroots strength to city leadership as we advocate for repairing this beautiful 1929 landmark. Most importantly, your support directly ensures that our upcoming 2027 season remains Admission Free for everyone in our community.

We just wrapped up a record-shattering 2026 season with 14 vibrant events and over 8,000 neighbors in attendance! But as you swipe through these slides, you can see exactly why this ground game matters so much.

From the professional theater and high-octane rock-and-soul energy on stage today, to the historic 1929 plaster crest, beautiful Malibu tiles, and long-lost side pergolas, this venue is a piece of living history that our community actively brings to life.
