Long Beach is a vibe β€” and the world is paying attention.

Last week at MOLAA, we soft-launched our new identity: Invest Long Beach.

Swipe through to see the partners, the strategy, and the global moment ahead
During the fireside chat, Mayor Rex Richardson and Stephen Cheung (LAEDC & WTCLA) named it: "Long Beach is a vibe." A city with world-class institutional readiness for international investment β€” and a cultural DNA all its own.

The Economic Vibe Check:

- #1 in California for FDI (FT-Nikkei Ranking, 2023)

-Most Business-Friendly City (LAEDC, 2023)

~7,600 jobs supported by Foreign Direct Investment.

In lockstep with Mayor Richardson's Grow Long Beach initiative, we're preparing for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and LA28 β€” and bringing global opportunity to every corner of Long Beach.

Swipe through to see the briefing in action β€” with thanks to City Manager Tom Modica, Dr. Noel Hacegaba (Port of Long Beach), Beril Unver and Sean Devereaux (City of Long Beach), and Felipe Cusnir and William Powles (LAEDC & WTCLA) β€” and to Dr. Lourdes Ramos and the MOLAA team for hosting.

The world is watching. Long Beach is ready.

β€œPassion will lead you where you want to go. Taking it to the next level is all about the relationships you form. AI can’t take that from us.” β€” Courtney Russell, CEO.

On Monday, we joined Carolyn Hines and an incredible panel of leaders at Cal State Fullerton to talk career pathways in travel, hospitality, and entertainment. 🏨✨

Our CEO Courtney Russell shared how his background at Marriott International and Visit Long Beach taught him that while a degree helps you learn, transferable skills and human connection get you the job.

It was an honor to share the stage with:
βš“ Steve Caloca (The Queen Mary)
✈️ Bridget Nelson (Delta Airlines)
🎑 Jynessa Sampson (NBCUniversal)
🍺 Ian McGaw (ISM Brewery)..and many more industry titans!

The takeaway? As Carolyn Hines said: β€œBe what you want, do it in hospitality.” At Invest Long Beach, we’re proud to bridge the gap between classroom learning and the relationships that drive our city’s economy forward.

This year, LBEP was honored to once again host the Long Beach Site Selector Conference, culminating in the 50th Anniversary of the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach hosted in partnership with Visit Long Beach.

From the rooftop of the historic Fairmont Breakers Long Beach to tour stops that included the Port of Long Beach, Space Beach, and the Queen Mary, the site selectors and guests were informed as well as entertained, as Long Beach once again shared its investment and growth opportunities.

Closing out our event were remarks from visiting site selectors, Ann Rybka, Lauren Berry, Paige Webster, CEcD, Sean Ferguson, and Jeffrey Garza Walker, MRED, MBA, plus the city's own City Manager Tom Modica, Economic Development Director Bo Martinez, and Mayor Rex Richardson. Attendees left with a rich understanding of all the City of Long Beach has to offer.

This inaugural gathering welcomed top site selectors from across the U.S. to experience Long Beach firsthand as a prime destination for headquarters, advanced manufacturing, and long-term investment.

The full-day event showcased our city’s unmatched assetsβ€”from strategic location to workforce talentβ€”and culminated in an unforgettable experience at the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach.

In 2024, LBEP proudly helped position Long Beach as a leader in the future of transportation.

Over the course of two years, we have convened leaders in Advanced Air Mobility (AAM)β€”think autonomous flying taxisβ€”to explore Long Beach’s potential as a hub for this innovative industry, thanks to our strategic location and thriving aerospace ecosystem.

In collaboration with Wisk Aero (a Boeing company) and the California State University, Long Beach Office of Economic Research, we released a groundbreaking Economic Impact Study detailing how AAM can create new jobs, unlock investment, and connect communities. Access report here: https://lnkd.in/gYnitA5f

We also welcomed a delegation from South Queensland, Australia, to exchange insights and strategiesβ€”furthering Long Beach’s global connections and commitment to sustainable innovation.

The future is flyingβ€”and it’s landing in Long Beach.

In 2023, LBEP was honored to sign a historic MOU with the Port of Long Beach, alongside Chief Executive Officer Cordero and LBEP Board Chair Ryan Altoon, marking a major milestone: the relaunch of the World Trade Center Long Beach.

As the 2nd busiest port in the nation, the Port of Long Beach is a powerful engine for economic growthβ€”locally, regionally, and globally. We were proud to bring back the Long Beach Annual Economic Forum in person in 2023 β€” a signature event that brings together business, civic, and community leaders to explore the economic trends shaping our region.

Facilitated through our longstanding partnership with the California State University, Long Beach Office of Economic Research (OER), the forum provided timely insights into the local and regional economy, workforce development, and industry shifts impacting Long Beach and beyond.

The event sparked vital conversations and reaffirmed the importance of collaboration in building an inclusive, resilient economy.
