Rattlesnakes in Lone Tree: What You Need to Know 🐍

Living near Lone Tree’s beautiful open spaces means sharing the land with wildlife—including rattlesnakes. Sightings on trails, roads, and even in yards aren’t unusual. But with a little awareness, we can safely coexist.

🔎 Be Aware & Avoid Bites:
• Watch for snakes sunning on trails, rocks, or pavement—especially in spring and fall.
• Step carefully near rocks or logs where snakes may shelter.
• Skip the headphones so you can hear their rattle.
• Wear boots, not sandals—especially around dusk when visibility drops.

🚨 If You Encounter a Rattlesnake:
• Freeze. Locate the snake before moving.
• Back away slowly—stay at least 5 feet away.
• Never try to catch, kill, or provoke a snake.

🐾 Protect Your Pets:
• Keep dogs leashed (6 ft max).
• Scout areas before letting pets roam.
• Consider snake avoidance training for dogs.

❌ Don’t cut the bite, use ice, heat, or a tourniquet. Stay calm and limit movement.
