Yesterday, members of London Professional Firefighters Local 3509 responded mutual aid with Engine 361 and Ladder 360 to assist the Central Townships Joint Fire District at a residential structure fire.

Our firefighters worked alongside crews from multiple departments performing fire suppression and overhaul operations to help bring the incident under control. Incidents like these are a reminder that no department works alone. Strong mutual aid partnerships and well-trained, dedicated firefighters are critical to protecting our communities when emergencies occur.

We are proud of the professionalism, skill, and commitment our members bring to every call, whether it’s in our own jurisdiction or when our neighbors need assistance. We are always honored to answer the call and stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our fellow firefighters.

Please join the members of IAFF Local 3509 in welcoming Firefighter Wyatt Massie to the City of London Division of Fire & EMS.

Wyatt began his service with the department as a part-time firefighter in May 2023 and was hired as a full-time firefighter on May 31, 2026. He is currently assigned to 2 Unit.

We are excited to see Wyatt take the next step in his career and look forward to working alongside him as he continues serving the citizens of London. His dedication and commitment to the department have already been evident, and we are proud to have him as a member of our team.

From fire suppression to community outreach, London firefighters proudly serve this community in every capacity.

After operating at the scene of a vehicle fire, our members took the time to attend a local preschool Touch-A-Truck event, giving kids the opportunity to see the trucks, meet firefighters, and build positive relationships with the people who protect this city every day.

Professionalism on the fireground. Pride in the community.

Great opportunity for our firefighters to spend time with the community outside of emergency responses while promoting important home safety information for our seniors. Proud of our members for continuing to serve both on and off the scene.

Today, London firefighters had the opportunity to attend the Madison County Senior Fair and spend time with members of our community, and the surrounding area, discussing important home safety topics. Firefighters spoke with senior citizens about fall prevention, smoke detector safety, and the importance of having working carbon monoxide detectors in the home.

Crews also handed out medical information files that allow residents to document their medical history, medications, emergency contacts, and other important medical information that can assist first responders during emergencies.

Events like this are a great opportunity for our firefighters to connect with the public outside of emergency situations and continue promoting safety throughout our community. We would like to thank everyone who stopped by to speak with us today!

Last night, London firefighters answered the call for a working residential structure fire. Crews made a quick stop, brought the fire under control, and protected what matters most.

No injuries reported.

TRAINING FOR THE REAL THING

Members of IAFF Local 3509 spent today participating in a full-scale Madison County LEPC exercise at Nissen Chemitec, training for a hazardous materials incident and mass casualty event.

This wasn’t just another drill, it was a chance for our firefighters and medics to put their skills to work in a realistic, high-pressure environment alongside our brothers and sisters from across Madison County.

A big thank you to the Tolles students and community members who showed up to play victims and role players, you made this as real as it gets.

We also appreciate Nissen Chemitec for opening their doors and supporting the fire service. Partnerships like this make our community stronger and safer.

Training like this is what keeps our members ready. When the call comes in, there’s no practice run and days like today ensure we’re prepared to go to work.

Proud of the members who showed up, put in the effort, and represented this job the right way.
