Big Air Kid's Fair

Big Air Kid's Fair If you would like to help support this event through the "Big Air Kid's Fair Shining Star Fund", a 501 (c) (3) non-profit, Bauer says.

For the past 10 years, hundreds of spectators have filled the sidewalk and entryway to Loma Linda University Children's Hospital for Big Air Kids Fair, a Freestyle Motocross demo. Each year the event is made possible by Big Air Kids Fair founder Steve Bauer. "This is more than an FMX show for us. It's a chance to bring some much needed smiles to these kids' faces," Mr. "We appreciate Loma Linda Un

iversity Children's Hospital for giving us the opportunity to do this for the past 15 years." In addition to the FMX show, each year Mr. Bauer invites a handful of the world's top Supercross and Motocross racers to the event, and after the show they spend the afternoon touring the hospital, handing out toys, clothing and other goodies to patients, all donated by the wonderful people and companies that comprise the motocross racing community. Many of these companies have been on board since the very first Kid's Fair back in 2003, when the former professional motocross racer called his lifelong friend and former competitor, Marty Moates, to help round up support for the fledgling event. Marty, one of the sport's true icons, was the first American to win the United States Grand Prix at Carlsbad after decades of European domination, becoming an instant legend and an inspiration to a generation of fans across the country. After racing he co-founded the successful action sports apparel company, No Fear, as well as FMF International apparel. Marty was fully committed to the Big Air Kids' Fair from the start, bringing hundreds of shirts and hats each year and personally, seeing that no one was left out. His enthusiasm for the event and love for the kids was unmistakable and contagious. Marty unexpectedly passed away in December of 2006, just two weeks prior to the event he loved so much. Recognizing Marty's spirit, Heather Moates requested that his friends donate to the Children's Hospital in lieu of flowers. The donations poured in and the hospital honored his memory by creating the "Marty Moates Shining Star Fund." The fund can only exist with the help of it's benefactors, such as the Fire & Police MX, LAPD Chief Charlie Beck, Monster Energy AMA Supercross promoter, Feld Motor Sports...and people like you! About 40 minutes into the Raceday Live coverage at Ironman, I was caught off guard to hear Ted Parks tell JT that he was shutting down his TPJ Privateer Journey after this event. For over fifteen years Ted has been providing countless valuable resources to the struggling privateers who comprise the majority of the field at every MX National or Supercross event.

Ted’s son, Teddy Parks, raced out of our Wonder Warthog rig and his dad was integral in helping our team logistically to survive. He learned a little bit from our mistakes, put together a program loosely based on our concept and turned it into a sustainable oasis for hundreds of racers and their families. His genuine, no-bullsh*t likability, coupled with his business savvy fueled by an unmatched work ethic and love for the sport made him a pleasure to be around.

His exit from the sport will leave a void that will be hard to fill. Thank you, Ted, and enjoy life back home in Texas with your family. It has been an honor to know you and the sport owes you a debt of gratitude. See you soon, my friend.

After a seven-year wait, the 14th Annual Big Air Kid’s Fair will be held on September 14 at Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital. At 11:00 AM, Fitz’s Army will perform an amazing freestyle motocross demo for the patients that will be live-streamed in every room. As a bonus, Roland Sands is bringing a few bikes and talented friends to put on a street bike stunt show that should wake up the whole city.
If you or your company want to be part of the feel-good event of the year, feel free to contact Steve Bauer.

I met with the admin at Loma Linda University Children's Hospital this morning to look at various locations to stage what will be my 13th annual (?!) Big Air Kid's Fair. The event has been on hiatus since 2015, while they built two new towers that took 4 years longer to complete than anticipated.

It was a no-brainer the moment they showed me this lot. It is the perfect size, has ampitheatre seating, fencing to protect the patients and staff that come outside to watch and perfect viewing from every floor of the Children's Hospital (the blue building in the middle).

This hospital saves the lives of countless children from around the world with their cutting edge research and total dedication towards helping others. I'm grateful, humbled and proud that they invited us back to put some smiles on the faces of patients, families and hospital staff. The date is obviously pending due to Covid 19 uncertainties, but I would love to do it around the time that MonsterEnergy Supercross season kicks off in January.

I will keep everyone posted, but you can go to the BigAirKidsFair page to check out videos, photos and ways you can help out. Thanks!
