King Neptune and Queen Oceania are pleased to announce the opening of the 2026 Logan Lions Club Duck Racing Season! Racing ducks from across the country and from around the world will gather in the Guyandotte River to compete for the highly coveted win in this prestigious race. Only 1200 of the most competitive, most highly trained racing ducks will compete, all under the watchful eyes of the Logan Lions Club.
You can be a part of this event by sponsoring a racing duck. For a $5.00 donation to the Logan Lions Charity Fund, your duck will get the best of training facilities and coaching. If your duck crosses the finish line first, you, as their sponsor, will receive the prize money of $1,000.00.
The real winners are the folks in Logan County who are unable to afford eyeglasses or eye exams. The majority of our charity funds each year go to pay for these services for low-income residents of Logan County.
You can participate by purchasing a ticket from any Logan Lions member or by purchasing online at: www. PayPal.me/LoganWVLions.
Logan Lions will be on Courthouse Square at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 12 to distribute American flags in honor of Flag Day (celebrated on June 14 each year). We will also have duck race tickets with us that day. Plan to stop by, pick up a flag and sponsor a duck!

Today is Earth Day! Please consider joining us or another group for a roadside clean-up. It’s good for tourism, but we don’t want to live in a trashy place either.

Folks, there are two things that we feel like we have to say after every cleanup.
1. Please don’t drink and drive. Unfortunately, we find too many of those cans and bottles beside the roadsides in the county. In addition to the fact that it is against the law, you will never forgive yourself if you injure or kill someone while you are DUI.
2. There are garbage cans available to the public at every gas station and at most convenience stores and fast food restaurants. USE THEM. There is nothing that is so urgent about your chalupa wrapper that you have to get rid of it before you get to a garbage can.

Scenes from Saturday’s road clean-up. We hope to do another one soon and we would love to have community participation! We would especially appreciate having a volunteer flagger to alert folks to slow down.

Our Logan Lions have been busy delivering snack baskets to folks who do so much for our community. Fire departments, the ambulance service and our hospital staff are there for us 24/7, good weather or bad. Folks, your contributions to our quality of life are noticed and appreciated!

A big thank you to the Logan Lions Club for spreading the love for Valentine’s Day with thoughtful snack baskets for all the departments at the hospital. Your kindness and generosity mean so much to our team, and we appreciate your support.

Acts of kindness like this remind us why our community is so special.

This is Home. 💙
