Contest Highlight 🌟

Today’s spotlight is Hippology! 🐴

In this contest, participants test their equine knowledge by taking a written exam, rotating through stations, evaluating classes of horses, and working as a team to solve real-life industry issues.

While competing in this contest, youth develop skills like critical thinking, communication, teamwork, and problem solving.

The winning senior team at the state level even advances to compete at the National Western Roundup in Denver, Colorado. 🤠

In addition to the vending machine, 4-H Entrepreneurs will also have the chance to sell products in a brand-new retail space hosted by the USU Bastian Agricultural Center during their largest events. 🛍️

Youth will not need to be physically present to participate. A dedicated section of the shop will feature products from multiple 4-H Entrepreneurs, and youth will provide their inventory ahead of time. After the event, profits from sales will be distributed directly back to each participating entrepreneur. 💰

Through an exciting partnership with the Bastian Agricultural Center (BAC), 4-H Entrepreneurs will soon have the opportunity to sell their products in a permanent vending machine located at the BAC!

Depending on the number of applicants and each youth’s ability to supply products, items will rotate throughout the year. This is intended to be a short-term opportunity, so youth will not be expected to provide products indefinitely.

All packaging will be standardized, and a small upfront fee will help cover operational costs. Best of all, all profits from product sales will go directly back to the participating 4-H youth.
