Alan Hashimoto was a husband, father, friend, teacher, artist and more to many people. He taught in the Department of Art & Design in the Caine College of the Arts at Utah State University for almost 25 years.

November Meet-up Notes

Hey all,

Today's LUCA meeting went really well. A great turnout!

We discussed holding a fundraiser by selling skate deck art designed/sketched/painted/whatever by LUCA and USU peeps, or using snowboards as the canvas. This lead to a discussion about the up-and-coming independent film festival Alan is involved in organizing. We decided the best approach would be to combine the skate deck design fundraiser with the film festival and maybe also the gallery walk in downtown Logan. Maybe we could establish an annual Art Festival in Cache Valley for the region -- during the spring. We could involve several arts organizations and non-profits and make it one crazy art-centric party in Logan/USU. We'll continue this conversation on the LUCA page.

We also discussed the other interests among LUCA members, including:

1. Having a start-up or business that is in need of creative ideas and branding/marketing expertise to pitch their product/company and we spend 15ish minutes giving them advice based on our collective expertise and experience.
2. Having more show-and-tell sessions so we all know what others are doing.
3. Asking members to present for 5-10 mins on a specific topic that they're passionate about that may help educate/inform/inspire the group.
4. Collaborating on a single campaign for good in the region. Kind of work as one big agency that develops all the strategies and deliverables they would need to launch and really succeed.

We also discussed that LUCA should become what the group wants it to be ... whatever adds the most value to the most people. So let's keep conversations going between our monthly meetings on the FB page between now and Dec 14, the next LUCA meet-up.

LUCA Meeting Tomorrow at 12:30! // Talk about an award show (or similar)

Hey all,

As we mentioned last week, tomorrow is the next LUCA meet-up. 12:30. Bring your lunch and let's talk about an award show. The alternative is to hold a competition or skate deck show type of thing.

Come and give your thoughts on the subject. I'm pretty sure we could do something pretty effin' cool!
