Do I need to live in Cache Valley to be on the organizing committee or participate in an event? You probably should live here to be on the organizing committee, but you'll notice our official team definitions don't exclude anyone from playing.

Scores for the 5th Cache Valley Games Snowsports are now in!

The East Side DOMINATED this year with 448 new points, more than doubling their overall total to 866.

Still, in the years to come, perhaps 2018 will be remembered not for the now expected domination of the east, but the new energy from a long slumbering South Side.

The biggest upset of the games came from the children's division ski ballet, where a lone dark horse South Sider upset a slate of East Siders to give the south their first Gold medal since the Fashion Show of 2013!

Historians will surely remember the performance of a South Sider mounted on cross-country skis performing what was, in this observer's view, perhaps the most heroic ski ballet performance heretofore witnessed at the games. Yet not since the judging scandals of 2012 has the audience been so shocked by the final ranking, with the South Side not even standing on the podium in adult ski ballet, leaving the East Side with a sweep. And just what was his coach talking to the judges about as they tallied their scores?

If these entrants return, and are able to curry favor with our finicky judges, a cocksure East Side will surely have something to worry about.

While the West Side took the lead - I think all in attendance must ask, at what cost? This year has seen great norms and traditions thrown by the wayside.

When asked what she wanted to throw an event to the West Side by ignoring a gate violation, one of the judges proudly said she just wanted her integrity, and initially refused to ignore the violation. That was, until the participants opened their wallet a bit wider.

Ironically, a review of the video feed from the event clearly showed that what first appeared to be a gate violation was in fact a legal maneuver by the participants. The result which West Siders had tried to obtain illegally from the judge, they had fairly won in the first place. To add further irony, another West Side team, which also included the same judge, later pulled ahead anyway to capture the Gold in that event!

Ultimately, at question then would be the difference between a Silver and Bronze in the 3 Legged Skiing event. You may note that the West Side has been awarded the Silver and the East a Bronze - which would result in a 32 point swing. You may also note the point difference between the East and West now stands at only 16 points overall.

We, the EWOC, formally issue a statement of censor and hereby ban all judges and participants involved from participating in the Cache Valley Games for 7 days from the conclusion of the 2017 Winter Games.

The EWOC is an organization that prides itself in upholding the utmost standards of sportsmanship and fair play. Despite the unsavory practices by judges and participants following the event, the EWOC recognizes the rightful Gold, Silver and Bronze medalists based on their original performances.

We, the EWOC, also formally applaud the moxie of the judge who, having first extorted monies and favors from members of her own side, overtook them in the same event to win Gold herself.

One of our founding members shared with us a dream he has for the 2016 games. Can we make Mark's dream come alive? I think we need at least two kayaks volunteered. Seaworthiness not a prerequisite.

Thanks to all the East-siders who made the winter games great this weekend! And thanks also the West Side for supplying excellent refreshments. Per the by-laws of the games, the East side was awarded 12 points in light of the boycott by the West and South sides.
