Presenting our final introduction of the season…..

Anna is originally from Canton, GA, and is a Crew Leader based out of our Logan office! She served a Crew Member term last year in Moab and loved her time in the desert.

She joined UCC because she wanted to be on the front lines of conservation efforts, and to be able to feel like she can make a difference in improving our environment. This year, she’s looking forward to helping others discover how fun and fulfilling this work can be! Plus, she’s always excited to use chainsaws and fell trees.

During her off time, she enjoys hiking, climbing, swimming, painting, and knitting – and just running around outside.

Get ready to meet another Crew Leader! ⭐

Chelsea left the city life Brooklyn, New York for a Crew Lead season in Logan, Utah. She joined UCC to pivot from HR office work into a field that she’s curious and passionate about. She’s returning for a Crew Lead season after her Crew Member season last fall, and wants to apply all that she’s learned from her UCC experience to her personal life so that she can practice conservation as a lifestyle.

This season she’s looking forward to backcountry crosscut work, but also enjoys a classic chainsaw hitch. During her time off, she loves spending time outside being active, like hiking, backpacking, or training for marathons. She’s starting to swim more and get herself into biking so maybe someday she’ll be training for a different type of race… But her favorite pass time of all is to yearn for her dog back in NYC.

▪️Hitch Necessity: Frogg Toggs

▪️Favorite Hitch Meal: Any type of noodle with marinated tofu

We're so glad we could help you pivot into a career field that you're passionate about! We hope you have a great season.

We’re ONE WEEK away from the start of our summer season, and we’ve got a few more awesome Crew Leaders to introduce! We can’t wait to finally meet our new members.

Lucas is a Cedar City Crew Leader originally from Stonington, Connecticut. He’s always been drawn to the West and the outdoors, and joining UCC gave him the opportunity to combine those interests while pushing himself mentally and physically through conservation field work.

This year, he’s excited for all the new places he’ll see, the people he’ll meet, and the skills he’ll continue to learn. He’s especially enjoyed the problem-solving aspect of chainsaw work and felling trees safely and efficiently. He finds improving habitat by removing invasive species really satisfying, and enjoys learning about the ecology of the areas he works in.

During his days off, Lucas spends a lot of his free time training for this October, so he’s usually in the gym, swimming, biking, or running. He also enjoys writing, taking photos, and watching old movies.

▪️Hitch Necessity: Running shoes. Running before or after work helps him reset mentally, stay prepared physically, and explore more of the places he’s working in.

▪️Favorite Hitch Meal: Spicy ramen – not the individual packs, but the fully loaded group dinner version with eggs, bok choy, chicken, bamboo shoots, peppers, and onions. Hard to beat after a long day of hard work!

▪️Movie Recommendation: Stalker by Andrei Tarkovsky

We’re glad you joined UCC, Lucas! We hope you have a great summer.

We’re excited to introduce our next Moab Field Logistics Technician!

Tay is from Asheville, NC and had the opportunity to help with disaster relief when Hurricane Helene hit in 2024. Doing this work made her realize that she wanted to be in service to her community and the environment full time. In 2025, she joined UCC for a Crew Member and Crew Leader season in Moab, and we are so lucky to have her back as an FLT! She says this work has changed her as a person for the better.

Tay loves fuels reduction projects and tinkering with chainsaws. This year, she is looking forward to teaching others how to fell trees and repair saws. When she’s not working, Tay loves rock climbing, trail running, canyoneering, reading, and writing her blog when she has free time.

▪️Hitch meal: Breakfast for dinner!

Looking forward to seeing what you crochet this season, Tay!
