May and June Education Clinics!

Attention Cache County 4-H kids with pigs!

There is currently a new Bacterial Skin infection virus going around currently in our area and surrounding counties.
It is called GREASY PIG VIRUS, and is very contagious. We want you to be very aware of this virus and do everything you can, not to spread it and be aware how to treat it.

This virus can be caused by dirty pens and stagnant air flow. Pigs will get scratches or wounds and the virus enters through the wound from the bacteria in the dirty pen. Having open wounds from mites can also be an entry for this infection. Please take all the precautionary steps to avoid this. This virus effects mostly young pigs from birth to 3 months old.

We will need to be very careful not to spread this around with tag ins coming!

Please go online and research this so we keep it out of our barns. This can be caught EARLY and can be treated with Antimicrobials, Antiseptic sprays.

We will keep you up to date on this and how we will proceed with tag ins. Please watch your emails and stay in touch with your 4-H Leaders about this.
