In the spirit of Giving Tuesday, the Dean J King Family Foundation recently convened and awarded over $1.5 million in grant funds to 58 local nonprofits, a truly uplifting testament to the power of Jimmy’s generosity. It is heartwarming to witness numerous local nonprofits collaborating to enhance the quality of life in Harrison County, a shining example of community spirit. We encourage everyone to continue donating and supporting all of the initiatives underway locally, inspiring a brighter future for all.

Jimmy King Scholarship applications and information sheets are now available in all Harrison County Guidance Counselor’s offices. Any Harrison County 2025 graduating senior who plans to further his or her education may apply. These scholarships are sponsored by the Dean J. King Family Foundation.

Scholarships are available for full-time students going to a four-year college or university and for full-time students going to a two-year community college or trade school.

Two additional scholarships are available at each school for a less-than-two-year vocational trade school education.

Applications will be due April 11th at the student’s Guidance Counselor’s office.

Scholarship winners will be chosen by the Jimmy King Scholarship Committee formed at each school consisting of employees of the that school.

The 2024 Grants cycle has concluded. We extend our appreciation to all applicants. This year, we fulfilled 73 grant requests within Harrison County, despite increasing competition that unfortunately precluded funding for numerous worthy projects. We eagerly anticipate the completion of these initiatives throughout our county. Applications for the 2025 Grant cycle will become available on September 1, 2025.

Congratulations to the 2023 Jimmy King Scholars and best of luck to all 2023 graduates.

Each year the Dean J King Family Foundation awards scholarships to students at all 5 Harrison County School. A student may apply for any of the three following scholarships that apply to him/her:
1. Those attending a four-year college or university
$5,000 for each of the first two years of their education
2. Those attending a two-year community college or trade school
$5,000 for each of the first two years of their education
3. Those attending a less than two-year accredited trade school program
$5,000 (one time)
