Can You See Me
There are I am, the addict on the street,
Your prejudice kicks in and our eyes you refuse to meet.
Ignorant thoughts run through your head,
“If he doesn’t stop, soon she will be dead.”
The version of me that you see,
Is only a pale reflection of who I wish to be.
Trauma, anxiety, and/ or depression,
Many a reason for this so-called obsession.
For you see, the day before,
I was that child that you use to adore.
Remove the blinders of ignorance and prejudice upon thy eyes,
Maybe than “Can you see me” what a surprise!
