Looking for a way to connect with nature this week? Join us for a variety of free programs, including a social hike for seniors, a guided nature walk, creative outdoor play for young children, an inclusive Walk and Roll event, a native plant sale, a family-friendly Mystery Quest, hands-on beetle exploration, and live bluegrass music at The Lodge. There's something for every age to enjoy in Medina County parks!

Join park volunteer Connie for Senior Strides, a once a month social hike for seniors! It’s a great opportunity to make new friends and get your exercise at the same time. Walks are one to two miles in length. Please dress for the weather, and be sure to wear appropriate footwear. Ages 50 and up. No registration is required. Free.

Join us for an easy walk to observe the unfolding of nature all year long in the parks. Natural Discoveries is an award based series of nature programs designed for ages seven to adult. No registration is required. Free.

Playing with the Wind

Young children are invited to bring an adult and join Amy Winnicki in a creative movement playtime. Wind themed activities using bubbles, balloons, and parachutes will be the focus of the program. Your child will learn that all of these items need air, and all are fun to play with, too! The program will be cancelled if it is raining. Ages two to six with an adult companion. Register by June 8. Integrated Community Solutions’ Walk and Roll Group is a free, inclusive opportunity for individuals of all abilities to come together, connect, and enjoy the outdoors. Participants are invited to join us as we explore the beautiful Shotwell Gardens Park at a comfortable and welcoming pace. Join us for a great weekend of learning, community, and native plant shopping! This will be a wonderful opportunity to learn about the benefits of native plants, explore varieties that support pollinators and healthy ecosystems, shop for plants to enhance your own garden, and connect with others who care about conservation of our environment. Chippewa Lake Historical Society members will also be on hand to share what is happening with the new museum. All ages are welcome. No registration is required. Free admission. Cash or check only are accepted for plant purchases.

Looking for something to do with the fam? Come to Shotwell Gardens for a fun Mystery Quest. You will be given a list of clues to find mysterious items in the park. Snap a picture of each find and when complete, turn them in for a prize. All ages are welcome. This event is sponsored by the Photographers of the Park. We will have club members on hand to help you with any photography questions for all types of cameras, including your cellphone. All ages are welcome. No registration is required. Free.

Beetle Bonanza

Making up around 25% of all recorded species, beetles are a fascinating and diverse order of insect. Come by the nature center to learn all about Coleoptera from the formidable mandibles of stag beetles to the metallic shells of jewel beetles, and everything in between. All ages are welcome. Enjoy a relaxing afternoon in the park with free, live musical entertainment. This summer concert series is sponsored by Friends of Medina County Parks. This month, Morning Star Bluegrass Band will fill the lodge with the sounds of bluegrass, gospel, and Americana music in a style reminiscent of the Bluegrass sounds of the 1930s and 40s. Join us for a toe tapping good time as this band’s energy is contagious! Concert will be held inside the Lodge. Authorized service animals only; no pets allowed in the building. All ages are welcome. No registration is required. Free.
