🌟 Exciting News from Fairy Yardmothers! 🌟
Hello and good afternoon, my fellow Lodians!
I’m thrilled to share some exciting updates with you all!
First and foremost, I want to give a huge shoutout to Rick Freedman for his years of incredible leadership and dedication to the Fairy Yardmothers organization. Rick has been a passionate, reliable force in our community, and while he’s stepping away from Yardmothers to focus on his work with Lodi Adopt-a-Child and other community outreach efforts, his legacy will continue to inspire the work we do.
With that said, hello community! 😁
My name is Ann Marie Forshee, and I’ve proudly called Lodi home since 1999. I recently graduated from Sacramento State with a degree in Psychology, with an emphasis in Community Psychology. I’ve been a volunteer with Fairy Yardmothers since 2023, and I’m beyond honored to take on this new role. I’m deeply committed to building positive change and continuing the mission of caring for our elderly neighbors.
A few updates:
📧 The Yardmothers email has changed (details updated on our page), and I’m currently working on getting a dedicated phone number set up. In the meantime, you can always reach me here on Facebook or by email.
And now for even more good news…
Fairy Yardmothers is officially partnering with the Lodi Boys & Girls Club Teen Center! Starting soon, Fairy Yardmothers will be organizing monthly volunteer events every 3rd Saturday, where teens and other volunteers will help elderly community members who have reached out to us for yard clean-up and maintenance. Whether it’s pulling weeds, mowing lawns, or simply showing up with a friendly face and a helping heart, this is about connection and care.
🌱 To the teens of Lodi (and your parents): This is your invitation. Volunteering isn’t just a line on a college application, it’s about bridging generations, building empathy, and honoring the people who laid the foundation for the community we all live in. Our elders deserve to feel seen, heard, and supported. This is your call to action. Your chance to be part of something bigger.
Let’s do this together. 💚
With gratitude and excitement,
Ann Marie Forshee
