Forbush, who will present “The 13th Massachusetts at the Wilderness.” His great grandfather served in the unit during the war and Bradley has spent the past 25 years researching the regiment, starting with his ancestor’s daily war diary. Quint presents “Dranesville: A Northern Virginia Town in the Crossfire of a Forgotten Battle, Dec. 20, 1861.” The first Union victory after its Army’s disastrous performance at Manassas featured leaders on both sides who would play major roles in the years of war to come. At Lake of the Woods Clubhouse. Free and open to the public.

NEXT CIVIL WAR STUDY GROUP MEETING: 10:30 AM, FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 27. “The Art of Surviving: Belle Isle and Beyond” presented by Kelly Hancock of the American Civil War Museum. Hancock tells of Richmond’s infamous Belle Isle Prison for Union soldiers and its typical horrors of life in prison camps, both North and South, during the Civil War. Hear how prisoners sought to maintain sanity in challenging conditions. In the Great Hall of Lake of the Woods Clubhouse.
