400 West Ave is getting rearranged, better yet just yell Missssy Because im about to flip it and reverse. Its time for a refresh and switched all the way up, and baby when I tell you it’s about to be BEAUTIFUL 😭🙌🏾

So please bare with me while I move some stuff around and get everything together because we are officially getting ready for the SYC OPEN HOUSE at 400 West Ave in about 2 WEEKS!!!

Yes, an actual OPEN HOUSE 👀 Everyones been asking me what I do and if can they paint at the shop. What do I sell and if I have vinyl records!!! The answer is Yes yes and a bunch.

I want yall to come see the upgraded space, check out the new products, explore everything SYC has been building and just come hang out with me in the space.

Omg I was almost late today 😂 I was all over the place trying to get ready and then I couldn’t find Boomy. Of course this would happen on the day I’m supposed to bring him for Show and Tell. I’m like nah, I’m not leaving without him because that’s my favorite toy. I finally found him, grabbed my backpack, and got out the door. I made it though, so that’s what matters. And thankfully it was only a half day because whew.

When I got to class, Mrs. Croft already had everybody where they were supposed to be. Auxenna Cordeline was already ready, Camden Bright had entirely too much energy, Zuri Wondergate was excited about everything, and KhiRon Buildwright was already asking questions. The room started getting a little loud and Mrs. Croft gave us that look. You know the look. The one where the teacher doesn’t even have to say anything and everybody just knows to straighten up. 😂 Yeah, I’m learning real quick that Mrs. Croft does not play.

Then Mrs. Croft started telling us about the grand opening of the Kenan Civic Arena at the Kenan Center this Saturday, and now we’re all excited about that. It’s Saturday, September 5 from 10 AM to 4 PM at 433 Locust Street in Lockport. KhiRon wanted to know what was going to be there, Zuri was already ready to go, and Camden looked a little too interested, so that could go either way. 😂 But yeah, we’re definitely looking forward to it.

Then we finally got to Show and Tell and I got to bring Boomy up. I was proud too. Mrs. Croft asked me why he was my favorite and I told her because he just is. 😂 After running around all morning looking for him, I was just happy me and Boomy both made it there.

So yeah, Day 2 wasn’t bad. I made it on time, Boomy got his little moment, Mrs. Croft kept everybody in check, and now we got Saturday at the Kenan Center to look forward to.

Dear Diary,

Today was my first day of school.

It was a pretty good day, but also a little bit of a lot.

First of all, Camden Bright budged me in line like I wasn’t standing there first. I almost said something, but I decided not to be a crybaby about it.

Then the teacher told me I need to pay attention, stop dilly-dallying, and keep my eyes on my own paper.

Auxenna Cordeline and Zuri told me I should go tell, but I’m not a tattle tale. I mind my business unless it gets too out of hand.

We had to sit criss-cross applesauce, use our inside voices, and raise our hands instead of blurting stuff out, which honestly feels a little unfair when I already know what I want to say.

KhiRon Buildwright was talking during quiet time.
Camden almost cut at lunch.
And Zuri was acting like recess was the Olympics.

I kept up with my backpack, didn’t lose my school supplies, and stayed out of trouble for the most part.

The teacher did give me that look one time, but nothing too serious.

Snack time was cool.
Recess was cool.
Lunch was acceptable.
The classroom was a little busy.
And the rules? A lot.

But I made it through Day 1.

No note sent home.
No trip to the principal’s office.
No major boo-boos.

So overall, I think I did a good job.

Saturday was an inspiring day at the Sip & Shop at the Buffalo AKG Art Museum in Buffalo, New York! 🎨💥

I brought Spill Your Creativity to this special Buffalo AKG Art Museum event, and of course, Boom Bear came along! 😂

One of the best parts of the day was watching children discover Boom Bear for the first time. They were curious, excited to touch it, paint it and make it their own. That curiosity, creativity and imagination are exactly why I created Boom Bear.

Surrounded by artwork, families and new friends, Boom Bear had an amazing time at the Buffalo AKG Art Museum. This creative experience showed that art, imagination and hands-on learning belong everywhere.

Thank you to everyone who visited the Spill Your Creativity booth, supported Boom Bear and joined us at the Sip & Shop in Buffalo, NY. This is only the beginning!

Spill Your Creativity™ is headed to the Buffalo AKG Art Museum Sip & Shop this Saturday, August 22 from 12–4 PM at 1285 Elmwood Avenue, Buffalo, NY.

I’m bringing a little bit of the whole SYC universe with me — Mixtape Candles™, self-care, DIY Paint Kits, collectibles + more. One of my favorite parts about doing pop-ups is getting outside the four walls of the shop and introducing THIS IS SYC to people who may have never experienced it before. Every table, product, character, scent and random-ass idea started somewhere in my head… and somehow we keep turning those ideas into something real.

CHECK YOURSELF BEFORE YOU WRECK YOURSELF.

And apparently Ice Cube was giving self-care advice this whole damn time.

This past Sunday, we turned The SYC Culture Lab into something a little different. Yoga. A wellness walk. Sound healing. Meditation. A wood-fired sauna. Cold plunge. Creativity. Local businesses. Good conversations. And most importantly, people actually taking some time for themselves.

My mother used to always tell me, “You have to make sure you take care of yourself.” The older I get, the more I understand exactly what she meant.

Self-care doesn’t always have to be some expensive vacation or perfectly curated wellness routine. Sometimes it’s taking a walk. Making something. Drinking your damn water. Turning your phone off. Sitting your ass down for a minute. Or spending a Sunday around people and energy that make you feel good.

SYC Creative Self-Care Sunday showed me that creativity and wellness belong in the same conversation — and it opened my eyes to what else we can build inside The SYC Culture Lab.

Thank you to every vendor, wellness practitioner, collaborator, friend and person who showed up and helped bring this idea to life.

This wasn’t just an event. It was another experiment in what SYC can become.

SYC Creative Self-Care Sunday is happening tomorrow, August 16 from 9 AM–6 PM at 400 West Ave. in Lockport.

The $45 Wellness Experience Pass includes the wood-fired mobile sauna with Heat Retreat, cold plunge, yoga, wellness walk, sound healing, creative activities and more.
