This was team work. The fawn more than likely fell down the slippery
embankment, she was down there for a few days.
Homeowner put apples on the steps hoping she would walk up. Unfortunately her leg was hurt.
Being almost two hours away I asked my friend Vinny (fellow rehabber) who was 30 minutes from location if he could try and get fawn up the stairs.
Dealing with older fawns is extremely hard. They are fast and they fight when picked up. Vinny was able to get her up. I was hoping her leg wasn't anything major so he could let her go there.
Unfortunately after sending me photos of the leg we agreed she needed to be seen. Vinny doesn't rehab deer so he didn't have the proper crate. I asked Amy who transports for me if she could meet Vinny. Amy arrived late last night with the fawn, after full examination her leg is swollen from a puncture wound and about four inches of her tail was torn off. I've seen this before from large dogs or coyote attacks. They grab the back end many times pulling the tail off and the puncture wound on leg makes sense with an attack. As I said a fawn of this age is tough to rehab. They stress easily and thrash trying to get away. At the end of video I was adding more apples to her bowl and you can see her fight or flight mode kick in. Vinny named her Gal, she'll be in my care for a few days until swelling goes down.

Every year my name is going farther and farther for fawn rescues. I can't care for the volume of deer I take in without help. I will never turn a fawn in need away. This has been a really tough fawn season. My last count Ive taken in 126 fawns. Not all survive their situations.
Many die on route, I have to euthanize some as soon as they get here, some that I try to give them a second chance die within a few days but either way I help them end suffering or give them a second chance. Out of 37 fawns in my care I'm still bottle feeding five 3 times a day. Now that they are older I'm going through 3 different kinds of grain, apples, restocking my medication (again), constantly buying bedding, the list is endless. Last week I was doing my morning routine. I turned on Dom's stall light and he didn't come running, I looked in his tunnel where he looked like he was sleeping, unfortunately he passed during the night & Dom was a class room bunny. When I took him in I thought I was told he was one or two years old but I found out he was around eight, which makes me feel a little better because I couldn't understand why a two year old rabbit would pass suddenly. Dom was the sweetest little guy. Any deer I put in his stall for rehab he immediately tended to. He laid by the ones who were critical and he tried playing with the little Fawns. I miss him •

Friday Fawn Fund! Today was a busy day, I tried to get Friday Fundraiser early in the day but never I succeed. If you would like to help me help them I would greatly appreciate it.
Today is milk fund and tomorrow is Saturday restock day. I kept my Go Fund Me going because it truly helped me this season. Thank you so much for your support and generosity. I can't rehabilitate the amount of fawns I do every year without you.

Roos front legs are straight!!!
Today was the first day I saw him run!! F His back legs have more straightening to do but he's doing great!! Also if you are in Western NY I'm looking for barn volunteers. In the past two years I've taken in 5 rescue horses. I had the room for them and my daughter Somer was doing all of the care. She has started law school this week with a crazy schedule which means I can use some help. It would involve cleaning 5 horse stalls, lifting 40-50 pound bags, water buckets and maybe a little miscellaneous stuff. I'm looking for Monday-Friday. If you're interested and can commit to one day or two please message me.

I get asked daily about Tinkerbell! Sometimes you have to watch my videos fully because I add parts of my day. I posted August 5th about Tinker graduating to the outside pen but it is part of a video you would have to watch fully. I also post on my daily instagram video stories about graduating fawns the day I do it. I’m not on facebook much, for more everyday content please follow along on Instagram.
Tinker came in as a 3pound premature baby. It was a lot of work caring for her, lots of sleepless nights and worry but it was worth it, she did fantastic! She graduated from a crate, to stall, to small pen and now she's in the big pen!! She immediately went to the older wild fawns and no longer comes to me (as much) but that's the way it should be. I think she was the toughest fawn this season.

Good morning! Hope you're enjoying your weekend! Since I don't get out much how is everyone spending their weekends?
Mine is the same every day, cleaning barn, making bottles, cleaning troughs/bowls, taking deer calls, My peaceful moments are sitting outside in between chores watch all of the animals •
