Last week, P.A.C.T. Place staff and board members attended the Bayou Community Foundation Nonprofit Conference!

What a wonderful day filled with learning, inspiration, and meaningful connections! There is something special about being in a room with fellow nonprofit professionals who share a passion for making a difference in our communities.

Thank you to Bayou Community Foundation for bringing us together and to the incredible speakers who shared their knowledge and insights.

Sheriff Craig Webre announced the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office is joining the rest of the nation in recognizing Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October.

The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office and The P.A.C.T. Place Supervised Visitation and Monitored Exchange Center are partnering with The Haven, the Lafourche Parish District Attorney’s Office, and Thibodaux Regional Health System to host the annual Domestic Violence Candlelight Vigil at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, October 21, 2026. This year’s event will have a new location as it takes place at the Thibodaux Regional Health System Women’s Center Courtyard, located at 604 N. Acadia Road in Thibodaux. This annual event is designed to remember the victims of domestic violence, honor and support the survivors, and recognize how our community can join together to create hope for change and commitment towards ending domestic violence. Several domestic violence survivors and family members of victims will share their stories of hope in an effort to inspire others to action.

“The impacts of domestic violence can reach far beyond the immediate family,” said Sheriff Webre. “It is important for all of us to do our part to recognize, address, and end domestic violence. We want all Lafourche Parish citizens to feel safe and secure, especially in their own homes.”

💜 October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

For families impacted by domestic violence, safety matters at every step.

P.A.C.T. Place is here to provide a safe, secure, and supportive environment for supervised parenting time and monitored exchanges—giving children and families a space where safety remains at the center.

This month, as our community raises awareness about domestic violence, we also want to make sure families and professionals know that P.A.C.T. Place is here and ready to serve our community.

Children hear more than we sometimes realize.

Negative comments about a parent or another important person in their life can leave a child feeling like they have to defend, agree, or choose a side.

Adult frustrations are real—but children don't have to carry them.

When possible, save difficult conversations for other adults and give children the freedom to maintain their own relationships without guilt or pressure.

💙 Protect their emotional space. Let kids be kids.

Children shouldn’t have to deliver messages, gather information, or manage communication between adults.

When adults communicate directly with one another—or through the appropriate professionals when direct communication isn’t possible—children are free to focus on something much more important:

Being a child.

A child should never feel guilty for loving or enjoying time with someone important to them.

Giving children permission to maintain meaningful relationships without worrying about hurting another adult’s feelings can remove an emotional burden they were never meant to carry.
