Caldwell County Food Bank We provide solutions for food insecurity within Caldwell County We request that all clients bring a photo ID and proof of residency at each visit.

Once you fill out your application and become a client, your household is eligible to come to the food bank 2 time per month for baskets and every day for available produce. Other resources:
HOPE - senior program available the 3rd and 4th weeks of the month for 55 and over
Backpacks- through Caldwell County schools
Community Meals- Tuesday and Wednesday evenings
Mobile Distribution - monthly in Luling and Dale

Congratulations to our October Volunteer of the Month George Tustin!

George is one of our longtime garden volunteers and says his favorite part is being able to grow fresh vegetables for people who need them. He enjoys spending time in the garden no matter the weather and working with the other volunteers.

Outside of volunteering, George enjoys gardening, attending concerts, reading, going on walks, and learning foreign languages. He and his wife, Janice (also on the CCFB volunteer team), enjoy collecting stereoscope cards!

George is most proud of being able to help others, and the best advice he has received is, ā€œFinish what you start.ā€

Thank you George for years of dedication to our garden program. We are blessed to have you on the teamšŸŽ

A BIG thank you to St. Mark's Methodist Church in Lockhart for the fantastic donation of personal care bags! They went above and beyond carefully selecting and packaging over 85 bags for our client families.

Personal care products are in great need and CCFB does not currently have a cost effective channel to source that type of inventory. We greatly appreciate St. Mark's and other organizations/individuals that have held personal care drives and collections.

Join us tomorrow, Saturday, October 10th at the CCFB garden as we prepare for fall planting. Work day will be from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. Anyone interested in lending a hand is welcome. The garden is located at 901 Bois D'Arc in Lockhart.

CCFB is excited to welcome Phillip Green as our new Garden Manager! Phil brings a wealth of knowledge to our garden program with an extensive background in farming. He enjoyed a successful career as a chef for many years before transitioning to the growing and production side. Phil is excited to bring is expertise to CCFB and we are blessed to have him join our team šŸŽ

Join us this Thursday for backpack assembly! We are stuffing 715 backpacks for Caldwell County students for the October distribution.

Assembly is this Thursday, October 8th, 12:00pm at the food bank. We are located at 901 Bois D'Arc in Lockhart.

If you are able to help out, we would love to have you. Assembly takes about an hour. See you soonšŸŽ

Luling Mobile Market this week! Join us Wednesday, October 7th, at Zedler Mill for the Luling area market. Distribution will be from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. Wagons will be provided, bringing your own bags is encouraged. Open to everyone, No ID required.

Please note, no holding place in line or joining others already in line. No proxy pickups. If you have mobility issues please let a volunteer or staff member know so that we may assist you.

Luling area market is the first Wednesday of each month.

Congratulations to our September Volunteer of the Month, Bren Hellums!

Bren is an active member of our CCFB Garden team logging countless hours keeping the garden in great shape. She also assists with our backpack program setting up the assembly line and recruiting other volunteers to help.

Her favorite part of volunteering at CCFB is the opportunity to work in the garden and give back to the community. In her free time, she enjoys volunteering and spending time with her foster dog. A fun fact about Bren is that she fosters for Jack Jackā€™s Pack, a street dog rescue in Texas. She is most proud of the knowledge she has gained about farming, planting, and the produce grown in our garden.

She wants fellow volunteers to know how much she truly enjoys working in the garden. The best piece of advice she has ever received is, ā€œTrust your gut instinct; itā€™s always right!ā€

Congratulations Bren, thank you for all you došŸŽ
