My Sister’s Keeper ATX
Weekly Impact Report
Week of May 2026
This week at My Sister’s Keeper ATX was filled with moments of hope, transition, growth, and grief. As always, our mission remained centered on showing up for women, children, and families in our community with compassion and consistency.
Housing & Stabilization Updates
* Successfully moved two women into housing, helping them take important steps toward stability, safety, and a fresh start.
* Completed four housing assessments, continuing our work to connect vulnerable individuals and families with pathways toward shelter and permanent housing opportunities.
* Welcomed a precious 8-week-old baby into the Sarah’s Place village, expanding our community of care and support. We remain committed to creating safe, nurturing spaces where mothers and children can heal and thrive together.
Education & Milestones
* Celebrated one of our community members graduating from college. Milestones like these remind us that with support, determination, and community, barriers can be broken and dreams can be achieved. We are incredibly proud and honored to witness these victories.
In Loving Memory: Sherrell Walker
This week our organization also experienced tremendous heartbreak.
We lost a client who became much more than a client. Sherrell Walker became family. She became a daughter. She was loved deeply by many and touched countless lives during her journey.
Sherrell’s story reminds us why this work matters. Behind every assessment, every outreach visit, every resource connection, and every late-night phone call is a human being deserving of love, dignity, and unwavering support.
This loss weighs heavily on our hearts. We mourn with her family, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. We honor Sherrell by continuing to fight harder, love deeper, and advocate louder for those who often feel unseen.
Sherrell, you will forever remain part of the My Sister’s Keeper ATX family.
“Some people enter your life and leave footprints so deep on your heart that they remain forever.”
As we move into another week, we carry both gratitude and grief, while remaining committed to showing up for our community, one person, one family, and one story at a time.
