SEVEN YEARS LATER… THEY CAN SEE THE VISION. 🙏🏾❤️

When we first founded Where We Thrive, Inc., it was nothing more than an idea on paper and a prayer in my heart.

I went to my Pastor, and he prayed for me. He supported me, and I will always appreciate that. But if I'm being honest, I don't think he could quite see what God had allowed me to see.

My vision was never simply to create another nonprofit.

My vision was to bring our small, minority churches together and allow Where We Thrive to become a bridge—bringing free education, resources, support, food, health resources, emergency assistance and opportunities directly into the community.

For years, I had conversations with pastors and churches about the power they possess when they stop working separately and begin working collectively for the people.

I talked about what could happen if we put the children, the elders, the families and the community before ourselves.

Seven years later…
I SAW IT.

Multiple churches came together, collected school supplies, provided resources and stood together to support our children for Back to School.

And when I saw the results of that event on social media, I didn't feel the need to compete, criticize or ask why I wasn't standing in the picture.

I smiled. 🤟

Because I knew what I was looking at.🙌🏿

I was looking at the vision God gave me years ago beginning to manifest.

I SALUTE EVERY CHURCH THAT CAME TOGETHER FOR OUR CHILDREN. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

And I want to personally acknowledge a few churches that have believed in this work:

Thank you for your unconditional love, prayers and support. You were one of the first to open your doors to Where We Thrive and allow us to establish an Emergency Essentials Pantry and Medical Lending Closet in Luling.

That wasn't just a building.
That was a door.

And sometimes all somebody needs is for one person to open a door and say, “Come on in. We believe in what you're doing.”

Thank you for allowing us to use your parking lot in the heart of the Eastside community to distribute food, resources, education and supplies to the people who need them most.

That partnership meant more than you may realize.

It allowed us to save on gas, reduce the wear and tear on our vehicles, and put those resources where they belonged—into serving our elders who are shut in, families with children and people who simply needed somebody to show up.

And we did.

We showed up.
Not because it was easy.
Not because there was always money.
Not because everyone understood the vision.

But because we believed the people were worth it.

There were times when I felt like a shadow.

Maybe people couldn't see me.

Maybe they couldn't see the vision.

Maybe they couldn't understand why this woman kept knocking on doors, carrying boxes, making phone calls, asking questions, finding resources and refusing to quit.

Although I may have appeared as a shadow to some of you, I want you to know—WE SEE YOU.

And now…
Seven years later I never would have thought the woman with the vision on a piece of paper would still be standing seven years later.

They never thought those conversations would become partnerships.

They never thought those prayers would become programs.

They never thought those little seeds would become something the entire community could see.

But God did.

And Scripture reminds us:
“Do not despise these small beginnings, for the LORD rejoices to see the work begin.” — Zechariah 4:10

Seven years later, I understand that sometimes God will give you a vision before He gives you the people who can see it.

So I kept going.
I kept serving.
I kept believing.

And today, I don't need everybody to understand the vision.

I just need to remain faithful to the One who gave it to me.

Where We Thrive was never about me.

It has always been about WE.

And when WE come together…
WE THRIVE. ❤️🙏🏾
