Spreading the love

Yoga Dance Jam is a universal tribal gathering that taps into a rhythmically-induced state of natural flow, innate within all of us. The activation of free-form movement is one of the oldest ecstatic pathways of collective meditation. This dynamic and rejuvenating exploration, accompanied by the global rhythms and world beats of Transmorpheous, our live jam band, will release tension, generate ene

rgy, liberate the path of love, and get you in synch with other movers and shakers. Come as you are; this is an experience perfect for anyone and everyone who wants to move to great rhythmic music at the ultimate happy hour. The Yoga Dance Jam Experience is inspired by global adventurer and creator of Trance Dance, my teacher, Shiva Rea.

Thank you to everyone who helped me celebrate my birthday, and especially these two. The whole day was a great reminder of how community, family, and friends are the true gifts of life. Surround yourself with people who make you feel safe and loved, who inspire you to do good and bring the positive energy, the ones who make you want to be a better human. My parents exemplify this every single day - the way they make healthy living and feeling good a priority...they take care of each other, reach out to those in need, lift each other up and everyone around them. They eat healthy and move their bodies, they read and play bridge, they laugh and love big and deep and I am inspired by the positivity that they bring to their lives and mine. Their presence is the best present a daughter could ever hope for. Lucky me and everyone who gets to be in their light. I love you mommy and daddy!!

I’ve been away from home for a while - traveling south to north, east to west, and back again - yet it wasn’t until recently that I realized just how far away I truly was.
Needing to ground myself, I booked a treatment with Jill Talve always a haven for relaxation and healing. I didn't yet know how much my body was longing for deep restoration, grounded energy, amplified self-love, and a renewed sense of safety and compassion. The Bliss Therapy experience was not only relaxing, but also rejuvenating, loving, and profoundly opening - it touched places within me I didn’t remember needed attention.
It began with a warm chlorine-free soak surrounded by nature, in a handcrafted cedarwood tub. Then I stepped into the private yurt for a sublime herbal foot bath and scalp massage that had me purring. Next came an abhyanga treatment—two skilled therapists moving in perfect harmony, massaging my body with warm, herb-infused oils that carried me into a natural, meditative state.
During the shirodhara that followed, a gentle stream of warm oil flowed across my forehead, soothing my mind and deepening my peace. The session concluded with svedana, a purifying herbal steam bath for lymphatic detoxification.
After more than two hours, I could barely speak - I just cried. So much gratitude and love energy flowed through my body.
Thank you, and thank you, Jill, for bringing me back home.

Every difficult person is a spiritual teacher; consider them your very own personal Buddha. They - and all the challenges they put right in front of you - represent an iconic opportunity for your growth.
Check the way you feel after an encounter with your Buddha.
Are you feeling calm? Have you spoken compassionately? Exuded patience and tolerance?
Do you feel good about yourself?
Your spiritual teacher is inviting you to be a better human. Sit by their side and let them teach you the skills of patience, tolerance, and compassion.
You can do it. You must do it.
Our world needs more peace.

The bluesy rock wraps itself around my hips and eases me in like a wave. It doesn’t seem to ever cool down in June in South Florida and the music is just making it hotter. Although I feel completely submerged by the heat, I like the way it feels as the sweat starts to drip from my body. I let the smoky rhythms circle around me and lift my arms, so who knows if it’s me or the music that is initiating the movement. Mitch sways as he watches me and I drop my head back drinking the sky, as it turns from cerulean to that deep shade of blue that comes out of a Bic pen. I’m drunk before I even take my first sip of bourbon. He pulls me close so we move like one body and everyone disappears, until a woman with big, wavy black hair shows up. She flashes her phone showing a black and white photo of us in an embrace. “I love watching you dance,” she says. “You are really enjoying life.” She's a photographer from Brazil named Renata and as we all sway together she tells us that we have some kind of cosmic tropical energy. Then she disappears into the crowd.

We're still dancing. ❤️

Losing someone is devastating. The emptiness is staggering. Grief stops us in our tracks.
In the process of grieving our loss, we often lose ourselves too. We are engulfed by numbness, fear, helplessness, or hopelessness, sometimes all at once.

Yet there are practices that remind us to live again, to open, to feel. Yoga is one such practice - and it doesn't dictate what we should feel, but it invites the process of unpeeling the outer layers to find those tender spots.

Yoga doesn’t look to change your emotions, nor to make things any easier. Rather, it suggests you notice. Yoga invites you to find your way, and it is willing to move with you at your own pace. Your yoga may start out as a physical pursuit, but let it in and it’ll summon something deeper. You may not notice the effects at first. But stick around - the healing slowly reveals itself.

I am offering a FREE workshop, Yoga and Meditation for Grief, to anyone living with any kind of loss. Please join me Wednesday evenings, on March 5, 12, 19, and 26, 2025 from 7-8pm.
Link in bio to register.
Although these four sessions weave together, they can also stand on their own, so no worries if you miss one.

DM me with any questions, and please share my free offerings with anyone you know who may need this kind of healing.

I am grateful to .foundation - the non-profit organization sponsoring this valuable program.
Come to share, connect, listen, and be supported.❤️‍🩹

Here in south Florida, it is a good day. The moon sets and the sun rises. Birds fly and ducks float. Trees rustle and traffic roars in the distance. People say 'it's a beautiful morning’.

But what about LA?

The winds are still blowing. Neighborhoods are decimated. People are homeless. Our first responders are doing everything they can.

We may be afar, but we stand with you, LA, and we also stand by. Ready for action. As we’ve done with places torn by war, hurricanes, shootings, floods and fires, we stand together.

Does it really matter what else you believe, what political party you follow, what race or religion you are, does it really matter? We are a collective of living beings, with families and friends, memories and possessions, things we care about, things we love. We come with our aches and our longings, and our baggage, too. But we are all living beings. And it is our responsibility to live together responsibly. We can do this, can’t we?

May all beings be safe, may all beings be peaceful, may we all be loving, to ourselves and to each other.
And when this happens, it certainly is a good day. Wherever you are.

I'm heading to NY tonite so please join me there for a donation based class, with all proceeds going to the American Red Cross and LA Fire Dept in East Norwich on Sunday, January 19 at 11am. Come for a little yoga, a little Pilates, and a whole lotta love.

I used to have panic attacks. 35 years ago, they were so bad, I didn't want to get into an elevator or on a city bus. I developed claustrophobia, a fear of heights, and maybe just plain fear. One particularly bad day, when I was completely immobilized, my mom came to the rescue, showing up at my city apartment with brown paper bags filled with vegetables. She didn't need to say much, just unloaded the bounty onto my tiny kitchen counter, and side by side we chopped carrots and cabbage, diced onions and apples, julienned sweet potatoes and string beans. My mom is not a big talker and she speaks softly, so when she does have something to say, people lean in, like listening to EF Hutton. We put the bounty of vegetables in a big pot, covered them with water, and brought it all to a rolling boil. The fragrance filled my apartment and we sat on the couch, simmering with the soup.
"You're a good person", my mom said. "You do good things. Sometimes that's enough."
Maybe those were her words. Maybe not.
But it's the feeling that I remember.
Moms and soup do that.

Tonight I was feeling ungrounded, after some stuff that we all seem to face these days. So I threw some onions, garlic, and ginger into a pot, added some sweet potatoes and red lentils, a bunch of spices, and handfuls of spinach. I cooked up a pot of coconut basmati rice. Let it all simmer while I took a moonlit stroll. The rich fragrance is still in the air.
I feel better now.

My mom and I arrived at Green Cay in the misty dawn and began our daily walk in the wet, breezy dark. The path was speckled with a few others, only visible from their iPhone flashlights. It didn't take long before the rains came, pounding onto the boardwalk, and we took refuge under a shelter where we were joined by a few other soaked companions, lamenting the heavy skies, but sharing a laugh and some Christmas songs to brighten the gray. As the storm lightened up, we strolled out again and the dusky, cumulus-filled sky began to morph. What was once dark and dense became vibrant and fiery. The sky was aflame in orange and yellow and it was all we could do but stand around in awe, literally gasping for breath and words. Just moments ago things seemed bleak, shrouded in inky darkness, and now we were surrounded by light and joy. A metaphor was in the making and we couldn't help but riff on the deeper meaning. Leave it to nature to turn a cliche into something profound.
