About ten months ago, after talking with our scouts, I suggested to our leadership team that we plan a big trip out west. I am pleased to share the boys of Troop 600 just returned to Pennsylvania after a 10-day adventure to one of the most beautiful regions in the continental United States — Yellowstone National Park & Grand Teton National Park.

The scouts and leaders stayed busy exploring the iconic geyser basins, wildlife, and massive waterfalls of Yellowstone National Park; traveling the scenic Beartooth Pass from Yellowstone to Red Lodge, Montana; driving breathtaking routes, hiking over 70 miles of magnificent trails, and rafting through the rapids of stunning Grand Teton National Park — just to name a few of the adventures. The boys also completed requirements or finished many badges, including Hiking, Camping, Cooking, and Photography, just to name a few.

As always, there are many people to thank for making this trip possible. First and foremost, we extend our sincere gratitude to our generous program sponsors and to the members of our community who continue to support Troop 600 and allow us to provide unforgettable experiences for our scouts.

We are also deeply thankful for the dedicated leaders who spent months planning, leading, and supporting this incredible journey.

That group includes Assistant Scoutmaster Christine Haldeman — a devoted leader and my co-chief trip planner; Assistant Scoutmaster Jeff Hubler — a fearless and committed leader, organizer, guru of the west, and another cornerstone of the troop; Scoutmaster Tom Witmer — a selfless and dedicated leader and a true cornerstone of Troop 600; Brandon Witmer — a dedicated Troop 600 alumnus and volunteer who truly makes things happen; JoAnn Hubler — our chief cook and meal preparer; and lastly, but certainly not least, Brian Campion — a dedicated gentleman who is always ready to lend a hand. This group never hesitates to step up and help me turn my crazy ideas into reality.

A special thank you goes to Jeff, Tom, JoAnn, and Brandon for joining me in driving more than 4,400+ miles round trip with all of the troop’s gear. We also thank the parents who trusted us and allowed us to create these lasting memories with your sons.

I truly believe we’ve pulled off one of the most incredible trips Troop 600 has ever taken. As some of us finish our 30-hour drive home, I can’t help but feel overwhelming gratitude for the generosity of our community. You made this experience possible for the boys, and we are all incredibly thankful. Here are just a few of the thousands of photos taken.

With gratitude,

Seth Hubler
Assistant Scoutmaster

Beth and I send our deepest sympathies to the family, friends, and fellow officers of Pennsylvania State Trooper Michael Pahira of Frackville who lost his life this morning along Interstate 81 in Cass Township. May his memory be a blessing.

Since being able to swim is a requirement to become an Eagle Scout we always promote everyone to learn how to swim. It could save your own life or someone else’s. Here are some swim lessons to learn to swim or become a better swimmer.

Today, despite the rainy conditions, Boy Scout Troop 600 participated in the Llewellyn, Newtown, and Branchdale Memorial Day Services and Parades.

We were grateful to honor the legacy of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice over the last 250 years of our nation’s storied history. It is events like this that allow us to build a nation of strong, resilient communities that do not forget the past. God Bless America! 🇺🇸
