April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month
Wounded Children with unresolved trauma involving 4+ ACEs have an exponentially more significant risk of continuing the cycle of abuse or continuing to be abused in toxic relationships as adults.

Adult Survivors with unresolved childhood trauma are at significant risk for developing Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (C-PTSD), Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), Anxiety and Panic Disorders.

Survivors have a high probability of experiencing difficulties with emotional regulation, distorted self-perception, interpersonal relationship problems, constant hypervigilance, avoidance, dissociation, flashbacks, memory lapses, emotional numbness, distrust, difficulty concentrating, constant fatigue, nightmares, and sleep disturbances.

Survivors are significantly more likely to self-harm, binge drink, self-medicate, smoke, have unsafe s*x with multiple partners, be incarcerated, and are 12x more likely to commit su***de. It is reported that up to 80% of all adults who have attempted or committed su***de were abused as children.

Additionally, adult survivors are at significant risk for gastrointestinal issues, heart issues, type II diabetes, multiple chronic health conditions, and early death.

The greater the number and magnitude of the ACEs, the greater the risk for and severity of the above listed. The earlier a child can receive help, the higher the probability of healing. Often, unresolved childhood trauma can remain buried for decades and then break through with a vengeance.

Childhood Trauma is not just something that happened to survivors in their past. It is a life altering and lifelong battle fighting their demons.
