Congratulations to Metro Detroit Sled Hockey for being selected as one of our 2026 Grant Recipients! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›

Metro Detroit Sled Hockey received a grant to support its adaptive sports programming that provides individuals with physical disabilities the opportunity to participate in sled hockey and experience the physical, social, and emotional benefits of team athletics. Through youth development programs, adult recreational and competitive teams, and introductory โ€œLearn-to-Playโ€ opportunities, the organization removes barriers to participation by providing coaching, equipment, and structured team experiences for athletes across Southeast Michigan.

Since its founding in 2018, Metro Detroit Sled Hockey has grown into a multi-team organization serving youth, adults, and military veterans with physical disabilities, while also reaching thousands of community members through outreach and awareness efforts. The organization plays an especially important role in addressing social isolation and expanding access to athletics for individuals who may not otherwise have the opportunity to participate in organized sports. Thanks to this grant, Metro Detroit Sled Hockey will continue strengthening inclusive access to sport, building confidence and community connection, and expanding opportunities for athletes, including those right here in Livonia, to thrive on and off the ice.
