Over the past 7 years CTI has concentrated on foster youth and college access programming. Career Transitions, Inc. (CTI) is a 501(c)3 organization that provides direct employment, education, training and ancillary services to youth who are identified as at-risk (e.g. low income, school drop-outs, young parents, and foster youth). CTI's primary objective is to assist young adults towards independe
nce and self-sufficiency through comprehensive "wraparound" services. CTI has provided more than twenty years of service to local youth in job readiness, education, and career development. Over the past seven years CTI has concentrated on foster youth and college access programming. Our most recent initiatives include:
• U-TOOLS- a college preparatory program for foster youth in partnership with the University of Michigan-Dearborn. (Funded by MDHHS)
• Creating Independence And Outcomes (CIAO) - a program designed to prepare youth who are aging or have aged-out of foster care for successful careers and lives after leaving the system. (Funded by MDHHS and Casey Family Programs)
• Project ACE (Access to College for Everyone) – a college access network in the Inkster, Romulus, and Wayne-Westland School districts that connects first-generation and low-income students to services, resources and supports to dramatically increase college attainment rates. Now merged with the Wayne County College Access Network. (Funded by MCAN)
• Education Success Program (ESP) - A program that encourages educational success for youth ages 21 to 24 who are aging out of the foster care system through intensive case management, postsecondary advising and matching funds that youth save for education expenses. (Funded by Kellogg Foundation)
