Mental Health Advancement Foundation Mental Health Advancement Foundation works to promote MH education, therapy grants, and scholarships

The Mental Health Advancement Foundation (MHAF) was created to help advance and promote mental health education, therapy grants, and scholarships in Deep East Texas through fundraising. MHAF will be hosting multiple events throughout the year to increase awareness and fundraising for Mental Health needs in our local area. All funding will be used locally to assist community members with accessing

mental health therapy on a grant-based basis, to engage in educational efforts to increase awareness of mental illness and mental health, and eventually, to provide scholarships to local graduates who intend to pursue mental health careers and intend to return to Deep East Texas to work.

🚶 Summer Mental Health Tip #3: Take a Walk

When life feels overwhelming, movement can help.

You don't need a gym membership or a complicated workout plan. A simple 10-20 minute walk can help reduce stress, improve mood, and provide a mental reset.

If it's too hot during the day, consider an early morning or evening walk when temperatures are more comfortable.

Remember: movement doesn't have to be intense to be beneficial.

Every step counts.

🍓 Summer Mental Health Tip #2: Eat the Rainbow

Summer brings plenty of colorful fruits that do more than taste good.

Foods like berries, watermelon, cherries, and citrus fruits contain nutrients and antioxidants that support overall brain health and wellness.

While no single food can "fix" stress or anxiety, fueling your body with nutritious foods can help you feel your best both physically and mentally.

This week, challenge yourself to add one extra serving of colorful fruits to your day.

What's your favorite summer fruit?

☀️ Summer Mental Health Tip #1: Catch Some Morning Sunshine

Did you know that spending a little time in natural sunlight can help support your mood, sleep cycle, and overall well-being?

You don't need hours outside to benefit. Even 10-15 minutes of morning sunlight while drinking your coffee, taking a short walk, or sitting on the porch can make a difference.

As temperatures climb, try getting outside earlier in the day when it's cooler and more comfortable.

Small habits often create the biggest changes over time.

Follow MHAF for more simple mental health tips you can use this summer.

Want to be more involved? We’d love that.

MHAF is 100% community-driven.

That means everything we do is powered by people like you.

As we start preparing for our September Amazing Race, we’re looking for:
✔️ Volunteers
✔️ Sponsors
✔️ Local businesses to get involved
✔️ Teams ready to participate

Whether you want to help behind the scenes or be part of the event itself, there’s a place for you.

Because the more people involved, the bigger the impact we can make.

👉 If you’re interested, send us a message and let’s chat.

Okay but, what is the Amazing Race? 👀

If you’ve never heard of our Su***de Prevention Amazing Race, you’re in for something different.

Think:
🧩 A city-wide scavenger hunt
🧠 Mental health-focused challenges
🤝 Teamwork + connection
💬 Conversations that actually matter

At each stop, teams complete activities that bring awareness to mental health and su***de prevention, while having a lot more fun than you’d expect.

We’ve had people come back year after year because of how impactful (and fun) it is.

👉 Want to participate this year? Be sure to follow our page to be the first to know when details release!
