“How has my life changed since receiving support from WFW? I’ll tell you how it’s changed. It keeps me from isolating and suffering in silence. I’ve been carrying the responsibility from the 3 Americans that died on the battlefield during our 7 hour firefight. I grew a passion for wheelchair sports. It gets me out of the house and gets me motivated. It helps me interact with my wife, who is my caregiver, and with my kids by helping me reach my personal recovery goals. For that, I thank you.”

Many of our recipients face both physical injuries and the lasting effects of trauma. While no piece of equipment can erase those challenges, increased mobility can help reconnect individuals with their families, communities, hobbies, and support systems.

For many veterans, physical injuries and invisible wounds often go hand in hand. While PTSD can affect every aspect of daily life, restoring independence and mobility can be a powerful step toward healing.

I no longer have to worry about accessibility to the point where I’m not going to be able to use a bathroom or not be able to enter a room. "How has my life changed since receiving support from Wheelchairs For Warriors? I’ll tell you how... It has given me a sense of purpose. It has given me a second life. I have been wanting to die for a very long time and being able to get a wheelchair and be part of a community that accepts me for who I am and welcomes me with open arms has been extremely life changing. It has reduced the stress of my caregiver, my kids, myself, my whole family. I just love that I’m able to get outside the house, be part of my community, be part of like-minded individuals, to stay active and be able to connect with individuals like I’ve never been able to before.
