It initially started as a project of the Livingston Rotary Club (and still remains active in Rotary activities) but now is a separate non-profit corporation. We are affiliated with the Dolly Parton Imagination Library and our mission is to supply books to every child born in Polk County each month from birth to age 5. Obviously, children who are just born can't read yet, but by having their parent
s read to them, or in many cases, just showing them the pictures in the book, it will give them an appreciation of books that will continue throughout their life. We currently are sending books monthly to 535 Polk County children, and have over 250 "graduates" of the program. We rely strictly on donations to pay for the programs, and we are in the process of setting up our website to accept donations.
