First and foremost, let us offer a sincere "Thank you" to everyone who has expressed support, encouragement, and material aid in the ongoing efforts to maintain, repair, and care for the previously authorized Veterans memorial at the Sacajawea / Miles Park complex in Livingston.
It has been brought to our attention that concerned citizens, supporters, and (allegedly) even Post members have engaged in coarse language and threats of violence directed at the Livingston City government and/or its officials.
As we prepare to make our public comments known this evening at the 20 May 2025 City Council meeting, please bear in mind that expletives or threats will almost certainly be met with, at best, individual expulsion from the forum.
At worst, they will simply throw everyone out, and move to a closed door session.
This would preclude having our comments entered into the public record, and facilitate additional "behind closed door" actions on their part - which surely will not be undertaken with any consideration to our interests
The current duly elected Post Commander, and all of the current Officers of Post 2154, urge everyone concerned to remain calm, disciplined, and focused. While emotions are high - deliberate, factual, and professional oral communication skills will be critical.
Do not stoop to a level that would enable our opposition to label us as a "lynch mob" and simply exclude us from the conversation.
Thank you again for your support, and we hope to see a solid turnout of concerned and responsible citizens lawfully participating in local government this evening.
See you there!
