"Seeing a Liverpool Community Chorus performance led Dale Galonio and his wife to join the group 23 years ago.
Between raising a family, serving in the military and working, Galonio had lost contact with friends over the years and missed having a social outlet. The choir served as the catalyst to form new connections.
“The people, I’ve got to say with the Liverpool group, that’s one of the things that really makes it enjoyable,” he said. “It is a very outgoing, low-key, low-pressure group.”
Sharon Cook joined LCC in 1985 and has been a member off and on since then, as the responsibilities of raising a family often replaced rehearsals.
“I do it because I’m not the greatest singer in the world by any stretch of the imagination — and you don’t have to be,” Cook said. “We’re people that just love to sing, grew up in choruses, choir in our lives and love that feeling we had. It reminds me of my youth.” "
Former band kids, string players and singers, longtime performers and passionate music lovers find the beat and new friends as members of non-professional adult music groups.
