During this evening's Rotary Club of Livermore meeting at Del Valle Winery, the Thought for the Day, delivered by Carolyn Siegfried, was particularly profound. "You can't choose the path you walk in life, but you can choose how you walk it." - Dennis O'Leary - father of John O'Leary Story. The movie recounts John's journey from a nine year-old fire victim survivor, a fire which also burned down his family home, to motivational speaker. You can watch it on Netflix, and the message and focus on resilience and community is powerful." Carolyn had the opportunity to hear John speak a few years ago, but Denny's line from the movie resonates - Carolyn chooses to walk her path with gratitude - including gratitude for all the communities she is part of - her family, her faith community, her friends, her peers, and Rotary. Gratitude helps provide the grounding and resilience needed to walk her life path. She left us with her slight twist on Denny's line: "You can't always choose the path you walk in life, but you can choose how you walk it."
