POP's Foundation China Culture Trip

POP's Foundation China Culture Trip We are planning to have next China Culture Trip in Summer 2019! Check back on our Facebook posts or email to [email protected] with questions.

In 1991, the Chinese government began to allow foreign adoption of Chinese children, and there are now over 50,000 children adopted from China in the United States. Since 2005, POP's Foundation has been working closely with the Chinese government to plan China Culture Trips for families interested in returning together with their adopted child to experience China's magnificent culture together. Th

is “root-seeking” journey is supported and partially subsidized by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, resulting in not only a lower cost but also access to many venues not available to the general public. POP's Foundation, established in 1994, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to serving orphaned children in the People's Republic of China and adoptive families around the world. In addition to the China Culture Trip, our main ministry efforts include the Prince of Peace Children's Home, raising awareness and care for orphans, and partnership with local and international governments, non-profit groups, and educational organizations.

Perfect timing! Today, I received the recap video of our trip from Cynthia Li of China Travel Group (CTG)! 🎥✨ We are incredibly grateful for their meticulous planning and generous support. They provided a stunning backdrop for our welcoming dinner and even sent a photographer to Beijing and Tianjin to capture our unforgettable moments. 📸🏙️

Cynthia has been a steadfast partner, helping countless families in their journey to adopt from China. Her heart is always with the adoptive families. Organizing our trip with her was an act of love in itself. One touching example was when she learned that one of our children is allergic to peanuts. She immediately ensured that all the restaurants used vegetable oil instead of peanut oil for him. That moment truly showed we were partnering in love. 💖🥜➡️🥦

Thank you, Cynthia and CTG, for making our trip a remarkable and heartwarming experience. 🙏🌏

🌟 Last Day Highlights from Hong Kong! 🌟

Today was packed with excitement as we explored Noah's Ark and Ocean Park! 🐾🌊

First stop, the beach by Noah's Ark, where the kids splashed and laughed with pure joy. One heartwarming moment was discovering that one child had been here before, years ago, after being adopted. Seeing his before-and-after photos in the same spot was truly magical! 🌈💞

Inside Noah's Ark, we delved into activities centered around nature, art, education, and love. Every floor was an adventure, filled with learning and fun. We could have spent days soaking it all in! 🌍🎨📚

In the afternoon, we headed to Ocean Park. The entrance welcomed us with a fantastic zoo featuring adorable red pandas. The park, split by a mountain, offered thrilling rides, rainforests, polar displays, and a mesmerizing aquarium. Whether by express train or cable car, the journey was as thrilling as the destination! 🎢🦜❄️🐠

Our trip concluded with a heartfelt dinner. Uncle Ken and Auntie Becky shared their inspiring stories, and we all reflected on our incredible experiences. The evening was filled with emotions, but the friendships we’ve formed are forever. Though our trip has ended, the bonds we've created and the memories we've made will fuel our next adventures with strength and hope. 💖🚀

🎡 Before saying goodbye to Shenzhen, we couldn't miss the Bay Glory Ferris Wheel at OH Bay in Bao'an District! A 17-minute ride gave us a stunning bird's-eye view of beautiful Shenzhen! 🌆 After lunch, we headed to Hong Kong. 🇭🇰

🏨 Arriving at the hotel, we were thrilled to be greeted by Uncle Ken—finally! He hugged and shook hands with everyone, even pausing his meeting just to welcome us! 🤗

🚋 Next up was the tram ride to The Peak. The kids loved snapping photos in front of Jackie Chan's giant poster. As we ascended, the view was simply breathtaking! Knowing this was our second-to-last day, we seized the moment to capture plenty of photos with the scenic Victoria Harbor as our backdrop. 📸

🍽️ Tonight's highlight? An incredible buffet dinner! Everyone indulged in their favorites—prime rib, sushi, smoked salmon, and so much more, plus a delightful array of desserts!!! 😋

Today is an adventurous day in Shenzhen! 🚗✨ We kicked off our journey with a thrilling visit to BYD, diving into the high-tech world of their awe-inspiring vehicles, especially their amphibious ones! Sitting in an SUV, we felt the adrenaline rush of going from 0 to 100 mph and experiencing a mind-blowing 360-degree turn while stationary. Their exclusive cloud rail gave us a sneak peek into their unique community. While we didn't have many shopping opportunities, we snagged some awesome souvenirs at their gift shop. 🛍️🚀

In the afternoon, we explored Splendid China and the Folk Village. Touring the Splendid China section, we marveled at the miniatures of iconic architecture from across China. Some of us even hopped on a quick ride to the beautiful Folk Village section. The Oriental Costume Show, themed around the four seasons, dazzled us with its extravagant costumes from various folk villages. We wrapped up our day with the vibrant Splendid China Show, where the kids joined in a lively line dance with the performers. What a joy! 🎉🏰🎭

If I had to recall two facts about today, it would be that we spent the day flying from Tianjin to Shenzhen and had dinner at 9 p.m. But what stood out was everyone waited patiently and enjoyed their time! 😊

When we heard about the first delay, we all found our own ways to pass the time. Some of us took the opportunity to snoop around the airport, while others enjoyed a "fast food" lunch. A few decided to wait for their late lunch on the plane! As we only had a little time to shop, people also shopped at the airport. ✈️

When we arrived at the hotel in the evening, we were more than ready for some delicious Southern-style Chinese food. Many of us said the dinner was worth the wait! 🍜🥢

Here's to making the best out of travel delays and enjoying every moment, no matter what! 🥳

🎉 This year marks the seventh year that the POP Foundation has organized a China culture trip for adoptive families with children from China! One unique highlight of our journey is a must-stop visit to the Prince of Peace Children's Home in Wuqing, Tianjin. As we celebrate the Children's Home's 20th anniversary, we're thrilled to welcome four returning children back home this year.

It was such a heartwarming and touching moment for all. Some might not remember the place or the caretakers who cared for them, but the love they received upon returning home was unmistakable. One child, who no longer speaks Chinese, joined in singing old songs with the teachers and nannies, hitting every note and pronunciation perfectly. Isn't that a miracle?!

Our beloved children have truly received the best of both worlds—they experienced love and care both before and after leaving their home in China. Our home always welcomes them with open arms. Even the children on the trip who weren't from Prince of Peace Children's Home are now part of the Prince of Peace family! I might be biased, but in my eyes, all POP children are great kids! 💕

After the emotional tour of the children's home, we lifted their spirits by allowing them to "play with their food." We arranged a Goubuli "Go Believe" dinner where they made their own steamed buns. Watching them create and enjoy their own food, it felt like life could move on peacefully with a little more joy.

🌟 What a day in Tianjin! 🌟

This morning, we checked in at the gorgeous Pan Pacific Tianjin. Our schedule was packed, so we had to breeze past the Five Great Avenues and People's Park, but no worries—we made some fantastic stops! 🌆

First up, we strolled through the charming Italian-style town and learned all about Marco Polo's 17-year adventure in China. 🇮🇹➡️🇨🇳

Next, we hit the Tianjin Urban Planning Exhibition Hall, where we geeked out over the intricate models of the city, including a massive diorama of downtown Tianjin. So cool! 🏙️✨

Then, we wandered through Ancient Culture Street. The vibrant atmosphere, amazing folk crafts, and delicious local snacks made it a blast! 🏮🎨🍢

To top it all off, we enjoyed a magical night cruise along the Haihe ("Ocean River"), gliding under the stunning bridges. 🚤🌉

Tianjin, you’ve been incredible! ❤️
