Sweet Ian went to the vet yesterday for what we initially thought was kennel cough.

During his exam, the veterinarian detected a heart murmur, so X-rays were taken to get a better understanding of what might be going on. Unfortunately, those X-rays revealed that Ian’s heart is quite enlarged, and at this stage, he is more of a hospice doggie.

The good news is that Ian is still active, slowly learning to enjoy and trust the good life, and soaking up all the love he is comfortable with. Our goal is to keep him feeling good and stable for as long as possible. He’ll be re-evaluated by the veterinarian in two weeks so we can see how he’s responding to his two heart medications and determine whether any dosage adjustments are needed.

While Ian isn’t going to get better, if we can keep him comfortable, happy, and enjoying each day, that’s what matters most. His foster mom is very experienced with senior and hospice dogs, and he couldn’t be in better care ❤️

Thank you so much! Thanks to your kindness, generosity, and compassion, we have raised $2,200 today for this very special girl.

We are incredibly grateful for the outpouring of support and will provide an update after her procedure next week.

Thank you ❤️

We always hate asking for help, but today we are asking for help.

One of our "underground TOG dogs" is in need of significant medical care and is scheduled for an extensive procedure next week. She is a senior dog currently in our care, but due to the circumstances under which she came to us, we are unable to share photos of her on social media.

About two months ago, she underwent a dental procedure at a new lower-cost veterinary clinic we had heard good things about. Unfortunately, shortly afterward, she developed persistent sneezing and significant nasal discharge. We attempted to have her re-evaluated there, but ultimately decided it was in her best interest to seek care with our regular veterinarian instead.

Since then, she has undergone multiple exams, labwork, antibiotics, and a full respiratory panel. All 12 bacterial and viral tests came back negative, yet her symptoms have continued. The most recent labwork was completed this week so she could be cleared for surgery.

The next step is sedation, full-mouth dental x-rays, skull radiographs, and a nasal examination, with possible tooth extractions or oral surgery if required. Our veterinarian suspects that a tooth root may have penetrated into her nasal cavity, which could explain the ongoing issues.

The estimated cost for the procedure is $1,591–$3,230. This is far beyond what our current medical fund can comfortably absorb, but she needs this care, and we are committed to getting her the treatment she deserves.

Rescue never stops, and sometimes unexpected medical situations arise despite our best efforts to budget and prepare. If you are able to spare a few dollars, we would be incredibly grateful. Every donation helps us replenish our medical fund and continue helping dogs like her.

(Since we are unable to share her photo, we've chosen to share a beautiful sunset instead 😊)

Sweet Hope has come such a long way since arriving at TOG scared and unsure of the world. Her foster mom took a chance on her, and the transformation has been nothing short of amazing.

This adorable little lady is about 9 years old and has slimmed down from 18 pounds to a healthy 14.5 pounds. She loves short walks, cozy blankets, tennis balls, and spending time with her family. She lives happily with dogs and cats and has blossomed into a loving companion who now gives kisses and greets her foster mom with excitement when she comes home.

Hope is gentle, easygoing, and happiest curled up beside someone she loves. She is a little gem and will make a wonderful, loyal companion for a very lucky family.

***UPDATE: THIS BOY HAS A FOSTER HOME - THANK YOU ❤️ URGENT HOSPICE HOME NEEDED*** FREMONT, CA

This sweet senior boy is in need of a loving hospice home through Thursday, June 18th.

He has endured a very difficult life, but thankfully found safety and care at Tri-City Animal Shelter in Fremont during his final chapter. To help keep him comfortable, shelter staff recently had him shaved. Sadly, he is suffering from a dislocated leg and significant spinal issues, and the focus now is simply on ensuring that his remaining time is peaceful and pain-free.

Once his stray hold expires, humane euthanasia will be provided to end his suffering. Until then, they are hoping someone with a kind heart can offer him a quiet place to rest, gentle companionship, and the love he may have missed for so much of his life.

He deserves to know comfort. He deserves to know kindness. He deserves to spend his final days surrounded by warmth instead of a shelter kennel.

If you can open your home and your heart to this deserving boy, please contact us as soon as possible at [email protected]. Time is of the essence.

A senior dog deserving of a hero is waiting for you.

Pepper’s world changed overnight when she was rescued along with 25 other dogs from a difficult situation. Soon after arriving into her foster home, we discovered she was pregnant, and just one week later, she welcomed one healthy baby boy, Dash.

Pepper has been a wonderful mama, and now that Dash is old enough to be on his own, it’s finally her turn to find the loving forever home she deserves.

Pepper is a gentle, sweet girl who is a little shy at first, but once she feels safe, her loving personality shines through. She enjoys cuddling, lounging in the sun, riding quietly in the car, and spending time with other dogs and cats. She’s still building confidence and learning the basics, but she’s making progress every day.

After all she’s been through, Pepper deserves a calm, patient home where she can continue learning what it means to feel safe, loved, and cherished.

***COURTESY LISTING*** FREMONT, CA

Please meet ChiChi, an 11 year old cattle dog mix looking for her forever home. She is currently being fostered for the Tri-City Animal Shelter in Fremont (A197525).

ChiChi was rescued from a backyard situation in March along with another dog, several chickens, and other animals. While the younger dog was reclaimed, ChiChi was left behind at the shelter. It appears she may have spent much of her life outdoors with very little human interaction.

At the shelter, ChiChi was scared and shut down. Once she moved into a foster home, she blossomed into a sweet, gentle companion.

She loves being brushed, enjoys her daily walks, eats well, and is fully house trained. She is quiet, easygoing, and brings a calm presence wherever she goes.

ChiChi would thrive in a peaceful home without young children. She could do well with another calm dog after a proper introduction and is indifferent to cats.

She may be shy at first, but once she trusts you, her loving personality shines through. ChiChi is ready to spend her golden years with someone who will give her the love and security she deserves.
For more information, please contact Maho at [email protected] or contact the shelter directly at [email protected] or (510) 790-6645.

A senior dog deserving of love is waiting for you.

Please SHARE THIS POST so we can help get this sweetheart find her new forever family.
