Thank you City of Livermore, CA - Government for recognizing Chief Halvorsen.

Meet Staff Sergeant William Halversen, who many locals knew as Bill. He's part of our currently on display.

We lost Bill in 2018, but he was a proud Livermore resident for over 50
years. He served as a combat aircrew member in the U.S. Marine Corps, including tours in Santo Domingo and Vietnam, and was awarded the Purple Heart and Air Medal for his service.

You may recognize his name from his dedicated 28 years in the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire
Department, before retiring a Division Chief.

He was laid to rest with military honors at Arlington National Cemetery. His banner is on display at now, and you can learn more about him by clicking the link below to read his full story.

After an incredible 34 years of dedicated service, Captain Chris Jesberg is retiring from the fire service.

Captain Jesberg began his career in 1992 with the Industrial Fire Protection District, served with Ceres Fire Department from 1993 to 1998, and the Stockton Fire Department from 1998 to 2013 before joining the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department. He was promoted to Fire Captain in 2019 and served as an Acting Battalion Chief in 2025 and 2026.

Throughout his career, Captain Jesberg has consistently gone above and beyond in service to the department and his fellow firefighters. He contributed his knowledge and experience through the Training Committee, Tractor Drawn Aerial Cadre, CAL-JAC Subcommittee, Truck Operations Committee, and Budget Committee. He supported his brothers and sisters through his work with the Peer Support Team, represented the department with pride as a member of the Honor Guard, helped develop future firefighters as the 2015 and 2016 Fire Academy Assistant Coordinator and State Fire Training Instructor, and served with FEMA Urban Search and Rescue California Task Force 4 (CA-TF4) from 2014 to 2026.

Reflecting on his career, Chris shared:
"I am very humbled, grateful, and appreciative to have had such a wonderful fire service career. I am beyond words when it comes to trying to thank everyone who I have met along the way…”

Chris leaves behind a legacy built on leadership, mentorship, professionalism, and a genuine commitment to the fire service. His impact will continue through the many firefighters he has trained, mentored, and served alongside.

In his farewell message to the men and women of LPFD, Chris reminded everyone:

"You are a part of the greatest profession and part of a great organization. The men and women of the LPFD are second to none."

"Take care of yourselves, and of each other. Remember, we are just ordinary people, doing an extraordinary job!!! Train like your life depends on it, because it does!"

Captain Jesberg from all of us at IAFF Local 1974 we salute you for your 34 years of dedication, leadership, and service.

On July 19th while returning from a medical emergency, Engine Co. 94 noticed smoke showing in the area of Hansen Road and Via De La Cruz in the City of Pleasanton.

After investigating, the crew located a chimney fire at a nearby residence and immediately requested a structure fire assignment. The homeowners were unaware their chimney was on fire, and Engine 94 quickly notified the occupants to evacuate while initiating fire attack. Their rapid actions brought the fire under control and prevented significant damage to the home by stopping the fire before it could extend.

This incident is a great reminder of the vigilance and professionalism of your firefighters, who remain ready to respond at a moment’s notice.
