TGUP was founded in 2006 by students and teachers at Los Altos High School in Los Altos, California. They wanted a project where everyone could contribute and the effect would be big and lasting. Since then, more than 100,000 students have given a dollar and TGUP has built over 200 projects in 21 countries. TGUP now also works with groups such as Kiwanis, Rotary, churches, women's groups, etc.

Enrollment at Muyuka Secondary School in Cameroon has surpassed the classroom & furniture limits with 544 students, and 10 teachers in just a few classrooms. Often, 5 students share one desk & many end up sitting on the floor. Pushing and shoving for a seat is common. Let's get them new desks!
