Join HIA as we participate in the Livermore Community Service day on Saturday, May 4th. You can find us at the Arroyo Seco Elementary clean up and there are many more opportunities to choose from!

It’s a great day to give back to the community as well as learn about more volunteer opportunities at the post-event celebratory festival at Las Positas.

We are thrilled to share that this year we have achieved a grand total of 112 shoeboxes collected from the generous individuals and organizations who collaborated with us!!

Special thanks to our HIA Leads, Carefield Pleasanton Memory Care, Fallon Christian Club, Faith Formation,.womeninbusiness, , and for their generosity and to , the drop off location that received our shoeboxes. We appreciate all of you! 🫶

This week is National Collection Week for Operation Christmas Child, where all the boxes are collected for distribution to children around the world. There still is time if you want to drop off your shoebox at a local drop off location or create a shoebox online.

We are excited to announce that our next volunteer event is just few weeks away!

Once again, we are hosting an event to support Operation Christmas Child by The purpose of this yearly program is to package shoeboxes filled with fun toys, school supplies, and hygiene items that will be delivered to children in need around the world this holiday season ✨🙌🏼

We are supporting their efforts by hosting an event to pack shoeboxes at our 2nd annual HIA Operation Christmas Child shoebox packing event. This is a fun and easy activity for all ages to get involved in. We believe that with your help, we can make a positive impact on the lives of children around the world.

The event will take place on October 28th, 2023, from 10:00am to 12:00pm at Ted Fairfield Park - 3400 Antone Way, Dublin CA 94568.

If you are interested in participating, DM us so you can receive the registration form and sign up to ensure we have enough shoebox(s) ready for all participants. Please make sure to purchase items before the packing event on Saturday and bring them with you that day.

What an incredible day supporting The Crayon Initiative 🙌🏼👏🏼

HIA’s mission is to encourage volunteerism by providing trusted resources and opportunities to serve those in need, all this to create a better world one good deed at a time 🙏🏼

We hosted a crayon sorting event yesterday at church where our volunteers were able to sort crayons 🖍️ to help send a little bit of joy to I’ll children at children’s hospitals around the country. It was a fun, wonderful, and oh so colorful experience 🤩

We were able to sort 180.4 pounds of crayons!!! What does this equal to? This equals to the making of 7,200 new crayons and 900 packets! Thanks to all our volunteers for making this happen!!!

The Crayon Initiative is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to bring happiness to children facing the stress of hospitalization by giving them the freedom that comes with creative play. They accomplish this by collecting and sorting crayons, melting them down, and remanufacturing them into a bright, clean, paper-free form. These crayons are then sent free of charge to kids in hospitals all over the country!

We are supporting their efforts by sorting the crayons they received into bins by color. This is a fun and easy activity for all ages to get involved in.

The event will take place on Saturday, 8/5 from 9:30-11:30am in the Pope Room at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Livermore. The address is 1315 Lomitas Avenue.

**Update: Registration Closed**

The Food Bank relies on volunteers and donors to help serve approximately 300,000 people each month living in Contra Costa and Solano Counties. Their mission is to lead the fight to end hunger, in partnership with our community and in service to our neighbors in need. Your support makes an impact right here, right now, in our community.

Make a difference in our community! Help In Action is partnering with Shepherd’s Gate through the Safety First collection drive.

Shepherd’s Gate provides a long-term program for homeless women and children recovering from domestic violence, addiction and poverty. The items collected will equip them with the supplies they need to both heal and thrive. Shepherd’s Gate does not receive government funding. It is the generous hearts in our community that have allowed over 13,000 women and children to be served since 1984.

If you prefer to bring items directly to Shepherd's Gate, the addresses of the two locations are: 1660 Portola Ave, Livermore CA. 94551 or Brentwood - 605 Sycamore Ave, Brentwood CA 94513.

We appreciate any help you offer to support the collection and serve the women and children at Shepherd’s Gate.

**REGISTRATION CLOSED** Did someone say FOOD?? Help in Action is excited to invite you to an exciting volunteer opportunity at the Food Bank of Contra Costa & Solano in Concord, CA! The Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano stores and distributes food to people in need through direct distribution. For this volunteer event, we will be helping sort fruits and vegetables in the food bank warehouse.

When: Sunday, Feb 19 @ 8:30AM - 10:30AM PT

Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day! This day honors the legacy, work, heart, dedication, cause, and life of a man that taught the world how to fight for justice. But this day is not only that, it is also the only federal holiday designated as a National Day of Service. Let MLK Jr. be one of the greatest example of taking action towards serving others and let’s get active in serving those in most need around our communities. May this be a great day of reflection, justice, and service 🙏🏼
