---------Mission---------
The mission of our organization is to provide families in the Greater Androscoggin and Franklin County area with financial resources to weather the persistent burden associated with a terminal diagnosis. Our families strongly believe that a dedicated community and community support will reduce the total burden on families while also giving much-needed emotional support in
their difficult time. Our efforts remain modest and our intentions are genuine, as we’ve all been touched by the unexpected support of our neighbors. We continue to strive for a greater capacity to show our unwavering support of the people we consider our extended family gifted to us by unexpected illness.
---------History---------
In August of 2012, Scott A. Tainter (husband to Leslie Tainter; father to Josh Tainter) passed away after being diagnosed in 2010 with a Stage 4 Glioblastoma. After experiencing the financial burden that come with a family member diagnosed with a terminal illness the family decided that they needed to strive to help local families experiencing similar struggles. In May of 2014 the Tainter family held their First Annual 5K and Golf Scramble with the hopes of being able to raise money to help future families experiencing the financial difficulties associated with cancer diagnosis. In June of 2014 the Tainter family gave their first donation to a local family (from Jay, Maine) who had also become all too familiar with a Stage 4 Glioblastoma diagnosis. In November 2014 Jaye Simoneau (husband to Tina Simoneau; father to Kasey & Kristen Simoneau) passed away. In 2015, the families joined forces and held multiple fund-raisers to expand the foundations capacity to donate to other local families. In 2015 the foundation donated over $6,500 to local families in an attempt to relieve some of the financial stresses associated with terminal illnesses. The founders and board of directors continue to devote their time and energy on finding new ways to increase earnings in order to increase donations.
