We're seeing a popular meme going around suggesting there are packs of Halloween candy (skittles) containing fentanyl going around. While that may or may not be true - we're sharing this official post from the Drug Enforcement Administration - DEA that discusses the prevalence of rainbow fentanyl. Parents of children of all ages need to be aware and be cautious - only go trick or treating where you know the person and example all candy carefully before allowing your child to eat it.

Rainbow fentanyl is the latest form of fake pills the cartels are using to sell more drugs to young people, and we are seeing it pop up in communities across the country. We know it is being produced in Mexico by the cartels.

There's some bad stuff going around out there and we're hearing reports of kids buying pills on Snapchat and Instagram - so please help us get this information out!

What is it?
Counterfeit pills are fake medications that have different ingredients than the actual medication. They may contain no active ingredient, the wrong active ingredient, or have the right ingredient but in an incorrect quantity. Counterfeit pills may contain lethal amounts of fentanyl or methamphetamine and are extremely dangerous because they often appear identical to legitimate prescription pills, and the user is likely unaware of how lethal they can be
