Express Annual Costume Contest
Horses and Dogs
Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 10:00 am outside the Bobby Holmes Arena.
Current Coggins (negative) for horses and Current Rabies for dogs is required. Bordetella vaccine recommended.
You can take part in both contests if you choose. This event is open to youth of all ages. All youth under 18 years old is required to wear a helmet. Entry fees are $5.00 per animal showing. All dogs must be leashed at all times. There will be prizes and candy for all contestants!
All animals are welcome. Any and all animals (dogs or horses) who are viewed as having dangerous or aggressive behavior towards anyone will be asked to leave immediately! All are welcome as long as they are controlled and behave well.

June 20th The Pony Express 4-H Horse club will be hosting a large membership drive and Horse FUN day! We will have horse related games, events, and other fun things for the family! Our goal is to recruit new members to our club! The clover Bud program is for ages 5-7 and the horse program is for ages 8-18. We of course welcome youth of ALL ages to the event! We will have paperwork on hand! We will have events for all age groups. There will be a concession stand with food and drinks for purchase. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me. ******Basic Equine Massage Clinic******
Will be held January 17th 2015 in LIVE OAK FLORIDA at the Bob Homles arena. The clinic will be on basic Equine massage, providing you knowledge on how to treat minor areas that are causing your horse pain or discomfort. The general idea of the clinic is to give you a hands on learning experience so that you can help your horse! You will be able to see first hand the difference or before and after. The cost of the clinic is $50.00 per person. You will be working HAND-ON with several different horses and or ponies of different sizes, levels of work, disciplines, and breeds. If you would like to bring you horse to the clinic to be WORKED ON it is an additional $50.00. Spaces are limited for equines. Please call and RSVP as soon as possible! The Pony Express 4-H Horse Club invites you to attend an introduction to driving clinic on August 16th at 5:00 PM. The presentation will feature the fundamentals of driving, proper grooming for driving animals, Hands on experience in harnessing, ground driving, hooking to equipment and driving a single horse as well as a team. This clinic is designed to give you the tools you need to safely and properly harness, hook up, and drive you equine. We will offer harness fittings (to see if your harness fits your equine) advice and training tools, as well as a questions and answers. We will offer dinner and refreshments throughout the program. Our goal is to have A safe and educational program while having fun. The cost of the clinic is $25.00 which includes dinner. The clinic will be held at the Bob Holmes arena in Live Oak Florida next to the Hospital. We welcome you to bring your equines and Harnesses! Please to RSVP today.

Alrighty folks! Who's going to come ride Wednesday?! This Wednesday we will be working on basic ground work in hand and basic arena rules and safety mounted. Our goal is to get started about 18:00
Also NEXT Tuesday July 8th will be our business meeting!

Wednesday June 25, 2014 - Curriculum On the Ground: we will be working on leading your pony safely using forward and backward techniques. In the Saddle: Using leg pressure (understanding respecting the mouth) Phases of pressure to move out. Working on riding seat, hands, legs, heels, toes, head and eyes.
