Gale was beloved by her coworkers and known for her kindness, dedication, and the positive spirit she brought to her work each day. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of working alongside her.

On behalf of the City of Live Oak, we extend our heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched during this difficult time.

Liberty Tree Dedication Launches the Live Oak / Suwannee County America 250 Celebrations
Live Oak, Florida – The City of Live Oak / Suwannee County will officially begin its America 250 celebrations with a special community event:

The Dedication of the Liberty Tree at Heritage Park and Gardens in Live Oak. The public is invited to attend this meaningful ceremony on:
Saturday, March 21, 2026
11:00 AM
Heritage Park and Gardens
1004 Helvenston Avenue
Live Oak, Florida
The ceremony will last less than one hour and is free and open to the public.

The Liberty Tree dedication honors an important symbol of American freedom. During the years leading up to the American Revolution, Liberty Trees became gathering places where patriots met to discuss ideas of liberty and independence.

This dedication will recognize that historic tradition while celebrating the spirit of freedom that continues to unite our community today.

The Liberty Tree dedication will officially kick off the Live Oak / Suwannee County America 250 celebration, leading up to the community-wide celebration at Freedom Fest on July 4, 2026, which will also feature the America 250 Patriotic Historical Living Timeline Parade.

Today, the City of Live Oak Community Redevelopment Agency was proud to participate in the North Florida Economic Development Partnership (NFEDP) meeting.

Regional collaboration is where real momentum begins. NFEDP brings together communities across North Florida to align strategy, share opportunities, and strengthen our collective economic future. From infrastructure investments and workforce development initiatives to business recruitment and expansion projects, the growth happening across our region is both intentional and impactful.

Live Oak remains committed to being an active partner in these conversations. By working alongside neighboring cities, counties, and regional leaders, we ensure that our community is positioned to benefit from emerging projects, new investment, and long-term economic resilience.

The City of Live Oak Community Redevelopment Agency is proud to share that our Board is now fully seated following last night’s City Council approval of Heather Henderson-Scheu to serve in the At-Large position.

We are excited to welcome Heather to the CRA. As a fourth-generation Suwannee County resident and lifelong volunteer, she brings a deep-rooted love for this community and a genuine commitment to service. Her fresh perspective, combined with a strong understanding of Florida’s Community Redevelopment statutes and how CRA programs are structured and operated, will be a tremendous asset as we continue advancing our redevelopment initiatives.

In addition, Heather’s background and expertise in emergency management will provide valuable insight as we plan and implement projects that strengthen infrastructure, enhance resilience, and support long-term sustainability within our CRA District.

We look forward to the leadership, knowledge, and community spirit she brings to the table. Please join us in welcoming Heather to the City of Live Oak CRA Board as we continue building a stronger future together.

🚧 Heritage Square – Phase 1 Is Underway! 🚧

We’re thrilled to kick off Phase 1 of the Heritage Square Project — laying the foundation for better infrastructure and improved connectivity in this important community space!

This phase includes:
✨ Installation of new infrastructure
🚗 A brand-new driveway and parking area designed to better serve residents, visitors, and businesses

One of the coolest parts? We’re using KBI Flexi-Pave on the driveway and parking surfaces — an innovative and sustainable paving material that brings real benefits to our project. 🌱 💧
👉 Flexi-Pave is a flexible, porous surfacing system made in part from recycled tires, which helps manage stormwater naturally, reduces runoff, and supports long-term durability without cracking like traditional pavement. It’s also ADA-compliant, eco-friendly, and built to last.

This first phase lays the groundwork for future improvements that will continue transforming Heritage Square into a vibrant destination we can all be proud of.
