In 1943 we had 41 members. Today we have 3,191 members. Thank you to our members for making Suwannee County Farm Bureau a success. Please join us on Saturday March 5th for our Membership Appreciation Dinner!

Today’s takes us back to 1943 when the first issue of the Florida Farm Bureau Bulletin was published. The Bulletin served as the organization’s first publication for its members. Today, Florida Farm & Family magazine reaches more than 130,000 Florida Farm Bureau members.

We’re hiring 1 full-time, time-limited Other Personnel Services (OPS) Agricultural Assistant position (job #520711 ) at the farm. Applicant must be able to:

-Assisting with the implementation of crop research and extension trials. This includes plot layout, planting, staking, harvesting, irrigating, crop removal, weeding, and tasks necessary to complete the project. Examples of crops include corn, watermelon, peanut, and greenhouse vegetables.

- Assisting with data collection. These tasks would include plot harvesting, soil, and tissue sampling, taking observational notes and photos during cropping seasons along with weighing samples to fulfill research and extension project requirements.

- Field Day and Event Setup. Tasks would include setup of tables/chairs, cleaning, staging, and decorating areas for community events.

- Assist with hydroponics: Tasks include production system set up, breakdown, daily monitoring, and recording of irrigation schedules, environmental conditions, and controls.

- Assist with delivering research plant and other samples to campus for analysis as needed.

- Help organize and enter data into online platforms and spreadsheets for various projects.

- Assist with other duties as assigned to support the overall mission of NFREC-SV.

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Preferred two years of relevant experience. Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to pass a background check.
