Yesterday I got asked by a probationary firefighter family member “what do you enjoy about your job the most”? I have been constantly thinking about that question. So my answers is as follows: 1 Being apart of something that is bigger than myself. 2 Sharing the knowledge that I have to the future generations of the fire service. 3: Watching probationary firefighters grow as to a professional firefighter and not staying at minimum standards status. 4: Helping instructors grow and advancing their skills to impact the future of the fire service. 5: Building the brotherhood and tradition of the fire service.

Over the last two week orientation class all 5 of my answers was accomplished. Not only did our probationary firefighters learn new skills, they also had assignments of fire department history. Assignments like how was the Maltese Cross adopted in the fire service? What is mercaptan and what major event in the fire service made codes and standards for the safety of the citizens? Remember you must know where you come from to know where you are!!

To the everyone in the orientation class, outstanding work and effort over the last two weeks. I’m very proud of you. Keep your motivation going. To the instructors that helped with the orientation outstanding work!!!

I personally want to thank each and everyone who has helped me grow to be a better firefighter and person in life. There are too many to list but you know who you are!!!

Simper Fi and Suwannee Strong!!
