Goodbyes are tough. Today it was announced that Coach Moore will be taking the reigns at another program. For 5 years we have been led by a beacon of determination and character. We don’t know what the future holds, but this brand is stronger because of Coach Joe Moore. Thanks for the memories, Coach.

What have you done today to be better tomorrow than you were yesterday?

Brett Rainey also deserves a huge Thank You from the Lion community. Brett joined the staff this year and provided much needed support and excellent coaching through the season. Brett’s shared great content throughout the year and he also produced some excellent videos for the team featuring our boys. But even before then he opened his personal workout space to our team and gave us a safe place to keep improving.

Thank you Brett!

It’s important to recognize what was accomplished this year by our head coach, Joe Moore. When the pandemic began, Joe immediately told our athletes that all they could do was control how they react and encouraged them to make the most of it. As restrictions permitted, we had athletes compete in Iowa, Utah, Kansas, and Maryland during the offseason. Joe found ways to make the athletes who were willing to show up better. And a lot of our boys showed up.

In a season when we had only 5 weeks and dual formats for competition, Joe was one of the few coaches in Colorado to fill the whole schedule and give all our boys an opportunity at 20 regular season matches. Littleton won more duals (7) this year than we have in the previous 4 years combined. At present, we have two regional place-winners with two more athletes in the mix for tomorrow.

Joe repeats his isms for us all the time; build a brand, the best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago but the second best time is today, and PROCESS, are some of my favorites. Whether it’s training mental fortitude on Mental Mondays, getting wild on wacky Wednesday’s, or taking some time to reflect on Thankful Thursday’s, Joe is a more than a wrestling coach, he is a life coach with an emphasis in the worlds oldest and noblest sport.

Thanks for another stellar season Coach Joe.

Nolan and Kai wrestled well but both came up short in their consolation matches. We are still very proud of their accomplishments this year. Both placed 4th, which would have been enough for a trip to the Pepsi Center in years past. Both finish 2021 having wrestled more than 20 matches and with heavily favorable winning records. Kai will return next year to make more strides as a lion. Nolan may be coming to a collegiate room near you. Watch out, these boys are going to make their mark in the future.

Stay tuned tomorrow as our upper weights, Issak Hosford (170) and Paul Ford (220) get ready to make statements at the 2021 Regional Tournament.

Proud day for the Lions, we have never had a wrestler competing for 3rd place at Regionals in the Moore Era. Tonight Nolan Kueny and Kai Saito are both chasing a victory to keep their hopes of a berth in the State Championships alive!

03/06/2021

Nolan Kueny grinds out a great W, riding Carter from Vista Ridge for the last 3 minutes of the match to a 3-0 victory. Nolan will battle for 3rd place next!

03/06/2021

Kai seals his place in the consolation finals with a 9-1 major decision over Eberly of Lewis Palmer. One at a time!

03/06/2021

Nolan Kueny dropped his semi-finals match to a very tough #1 seed, Chase Johnson by major decision 13-0. We wish Johnson good luck in the championship so Nolan can keep his shot at true second and the state Championships alive!
