🌱 COMPANION PLANTING GUIDE

Want a healthier garden without relying on chemicals? Start here.
Some of the best pairings to try this season include tomatoes with basil and marigolds, cucumbers with nasturtiums, carrots with onions, lettuce with radishes, and beans with corn.

These combinations help improve growth, reduce pests, and create a more balanced garden. Save this as you plan your garden and share it with someone who is growing this season.

WHAT TO PLANT IN ARKANSAS: APRIL

April invites the garden into a new season of growth.

As the days grow warmer, it becomes time to plant tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, beans, and herbs, crops that will carry your garden into the months ahead. It is also a time to think beyond what we grow for ourselves and begin planting in ways that support pollinators and the ecosystem as a whole.

A thriving garden is not just productive, it is connected.

When we grow with care and intention, we create abundance, not only for our own tables, but for our communities.

🌿 At The Garden Table Foundation, we believe every garden has the potential to nourish more than one home.

Save this as your April planting guide and follow along as we grow together.

We’re proud to share that our founder has been named International Alum of the Year by her alma mater, École Ducasse, recognized as the top culinary institute in the world. 🌿

This honor is part of the PIEoneer Awards, often referred to as the “Oscars of international education,” with the ceremony taking place this September in London.

This award recognizes graduates who are creating meaningful impact in their industries and communities, using their education to drive positive change both locally and globally. It’s a reflection of the heart behind everything we do at The Garden Table: cultivating connection, nourishing communities, and building a more sustainable future through food.

We couldn’t be more proud by the vision and leadership guiding this work forward. ✨

Thank you to everyone who has reached out, commented, and shared your excitement around The Garden Table Foundation. We are grateful for your support and for those already interested in volunteering and getting involved. 🌿

A big part of our mission is centered around teaching culinary skills to youth and families. Growing food is just the first step, knowing how to use it is what brings it to life.

Through cooking tutorials, tastings and scratch-cooking recipes, we empower youth and families to prepare simple, nourishing meals using fresh, seasonal ingredients in a sustainable way.

We focus on approachable techniques, practical skills, and meals that can be recreated at home…because healthy food should feel accessible, not overwhelming.

When people feel confident in the kitchen, it creates lasting change at the table, in the home, and across generations.

🍴 From garden to table, our mission builds skills that last.

GARDEN EDUCATION 🪴 Two years ago, while working in The French Laundry culinary garden, a seed was planted in my soul: an idea that we could impact lives by building something that nourishes, teaches, and reaches those who need it most. That moment led to the creation of The Garden Table Foundation.

At its core, our mission starts with education, to teach kids and families how to grow fruits, vegetables, and herbs. We aim to provide knowledge and confidence to understand where food comes from and how to care for the land that sustains us. As I’ve spent time researching food insecurity, one statistic has stayed with me: a surprising number of children have never stepped foot on a farm or in a garden.

When you learn how to grow food, you gain more than a harvest…You gain independence, awareness, and possibility. For many families, that knowledge can change everything.

🌿 I hope you will follow us and message us if you’d like to join our efforts as a volunteer, sponsor, or community partner.

We’ve been working on something that is close to my heart. I’m excited to share we’ve established The Garden Table Foundation🌱, an effort to address food insecurity while creating lasting impact for our community and environment.

Our mission is simple, but the impact is lasting. We empower youth and families to grow, cook, and share healthy food through hands-on garden and culinary education…building healthier communities and a more sustainable future, while promoting environmental stewardship and climate-conscious growing practices.

Through initiatives like supporting school backpack programs and providing resources for families, working with community partners like the Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance and Arkansas Foodbank, our mission is to educate and expand access to nutritious, nourishing meals where they’re needed most.

We are looking for business leaders, civic partners, and volunteers to join us. We’d love to discuss how you can get involved and help as we plant seeds, share knowledge, and expand access to nutritious food. Message us for more details and checkout our website https://gardentablefoundation.org.
