Arkansas Conference of The United Methodist Church Working together to build vital faith communities by
following Jesus, loving people, and sharing grace. Developing principled Christian leaders;

2.

Vision of the Arkansas Conference:

Congregations and surrounding communities transformed by the Holy Spirit to demonstrate love of God and neighbor, holy living, and justice. The Mission of the Arkansas Conference:

To make disciples of Jesus Christ equipped to transform the world with excellence and passion. Our Trajectory:

Creating vital congregations that make disciples of Jesus Christ, who make disciples equipped to transform lives, communities and the world. Core Measures:

• We will be enriched by our Wesleyan heritage of Scriptural holiness so that we are connected by our mission of making disciples instead of being connected by our apportionments, appointments and benefits.

• We will establish the mission field as the primary focus of our attention and resources instead of directing the majority of our attention and resources to mere maintenance of congregations and clergy.

• We will equip laity and clergy to transform individuals, communities and the world instead of trying to satisfy personal preferences of current members and ensure congregational preservation.

• We will address the unique context of each mission field instead of depending on standardized programs and structures. Four Areas of Focus:

Our four areas of focus, not just for the Arkansas Conference, but for all United Methodists are:

1. Creating new places for new people by starting congregations and renewing existing ones;

3. Engaging in ministry with the poor;

4. Stamping out killer diseases by improving health globally.

Would you like to turn a dollar into three dollars? ✨ Here's an opportunity to do just that!

Twenty years ago, the Arkansas Annual Conference partnered with Bishop Pierre Nkulu Ntanda Ntambo in the North Katanga Conference in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) to build water wells for communities there. In 2026, at the invitation of Bishop Mande Muyombo, we are rekindling that partnership. because 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀—𝗮𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁.

Between now and year-end, the Arkansas Annual Conference will raise money to provide solar-powered wells in North Katanga. The Methodist Foundation for Arkansas has offered a dollar-for-dollar match for all gifts received by 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟭, up to $25,000.
The General Board of Global Ministries of the UMC has pledged a similar match of up to $25,000.

There is no limit on what we send. Every gift before and after the match goes to North Katanga, and every $10,000 means another village has clean water.
Churches may send contributions marked "North Katanga Water Wells" to:

An exciting event is happening August 8th. The Board of Laity of the Arkansas Conference is hosting a study on The Social Principles. Rev. Neal Christie, who has worked very hard to assemble this study since last General Conference, will be the speaker and one of the facilitators.

The event is a zoom and begins at 9:30 with a brief devotional by Bishop Merrill followed by Neal’s presentation. You will then have the opportunity to participate in one of 4 breakout groups featuring the 4 Pillars of the Social Principles. Community of Creation will focus on environmental stewardship, indigenous rights, and environmental racism. Political Community, addresses colonialism, human sexuality, racism and peace building. Economic Community covers poverty, worker’s rights and stewardship of possessions. Social Community will feature community structure, marriage and personal conduct. Our facilitators for these breakout groups will be Melissa Simpson, Brenda Gullett, Michael Bynum and Rev. Neal Christie. We will end at 12:00 pm as we are sent forth to be better followers of Jesus in a complicated society.

The book, Social Principles of the United Methodist Church 2025-2028, is available from Cokesbury but is not necessary for this event.

This is an exciting offering for anyone who is interested. Don’t miss it!
