Becoming a foster family involves much more than simply having a heart to help children and families. It requires preparation, training, and a commitment to providing safe, nurturing care.

One important step in that journey is becoming CPR certified. This training helps ensure foster parents are equipped to respond in emergencies and provide the highest level of care for the children placed in their homes.

Recently, Ellen Grace, ABCFM's Director of Family Support, led a CPR certification class for prospective foster families in Little Rock. At ABCFM, we're committed to equipping foster families with the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need to care for children well and support families along the foster care journey.

What does healthy connection look like between parents and children?

Healthy connection isn't about being a perfect parent. It's about creating a relationship where your child feels safe, valued, and loved.

It looks like listening without rushing to fix. Showing up consistently. Offering grace while maintaining healthy boundaries. Celebrating victories and walking through challenges together.

When children know they can come to you with their feelings, questions, mistakes, and successes, trust begins to grow. Over time, that trust becomes the foundation for a strong and lasting relationship.

June is National Reunification Month! It is a time to celebrate families who have worked hard to overcome challenges and reunite safely with their children.

Reunification is often the primary goal of foster care. It takes courage, perseverance, support, and hope from everyone involved.

A welcoming space can make all the difference.

We're grateful to offer seven newly renovated visitation rooms at our ABCFM main office, providing families involved with DCFS a comfortable, family-friendly environment to spend meaningful time together.

These rooms are designed to support connection, encourage healthy family relationships, and create opportunities for families to celebrate growth, healing, and the positive changes happening in their lives.

Yesterday, we were honored to gather with the dedicated members of the ABCFM Board of Trustees for our quarterly board meeting.

These faithful leaders play a vital role in guiding the mission and ministry of Arkansas Baptist Children & Family Ministries. We celebrated the ways God is working through our programs, reviewed ministry updates, and looked ahead to opportunities to continue serving children and families across Arkansas.

We are grateful for the wisdom, leadership, and commitment of our board members as they help steward the mission of strengthening children and families through Christ-centered care.

We loved seeing the Tipton family attend the Arkansas Division of Children and Family Services Foster Family of the Year Gala in May, where they were honored as the Area 5 Foster Family of the Year.

The Tiptons embody what it means to provide hope, stability, and love to children in foster care. Their willingness to open their hearts and home is making a lasting difference in the lives of Arkansas children and families, and we couldn't be more proud of this well-deserved recognition.

Join us in celebrating the Tipton family and all those who choose to see the one in foster care!

We are so grateful for everyone who helped make the ABCFM Benefit Concert with Pastor Bob Joyce a wonderful success.

A special thank you to First Baptist Church Cabot for their extraordinary generosity and partnership. FBC Cabot graciously provided their facilities, sound and audio/visual teams, security, and maintenance support.

Thank you to Pastor Bob Joyce for sharing your gifts and heart for ministry, and to everyone who attended and supported the concert. Your generosity helps ABCFM continue providing hope, healing, and stability to children and families across Arkansas.
