Since September 11th, the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund has added 595 names of fallen officers to the Memorial walls to honor those who succumbed to September 11th-related illnesses.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Officer Trevor Howard’s family, friends, and the Marked Tree Police Department. We also pray for Officer Anthony Johnson’s full and speedy recovery.

Marked Tree Police Officer Trevor Howard, 25, died Sunday and another officer, Anthony Johnson, 22, was injured after an early-morning wreck that occurred while on duty in Marked Tree at approximately 2:50 a.m. Officer Johnson was transported to a hospital in Jonesboro for treatment of the non-life-threatening injuries he sustained.

ASP is investigating the wreck.

A preliminary report indicates that a vehicle driven by Kareem Jones, 28, of Marked Tree, failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with the officers’ vehicle on the passenger side, causing it to overturn. Jones was airlifted to a Memphis hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
